Do the lesbian singers have true love?

(Response to Clare Perretta's Pitt News A&E article: "Russia with luv")

As I sit here, puzzled by “From Russia-with luv”, a  review by Clare Peretta of the “feisty teen-age Russian lesbian . . . pop sensation that took Europe by storm last year”, t.A.T.u., that appeared Jan 14, 03 in the A&E section of the Pitt News , I wonder “Man, where do I start?”, or actually, “Lord where do I begin?”

I checked out their website and it made me very sad.  I felt extremely threatened by temptation and idolatry (one of the things I personally have been convicted of and have been struggling with).  But I mostly felt sad.

I chose to watch their video, “All the things she said”

It displays the two “seventeen year old . . . Moscow-born techno-pop goddesses” standing, in, sort of school uniforms, behind a barred gate, in which ordinary people, portrayed as very conservative, are staring in judgment.

I infer from the song’s lyrics that their mothers disapprove of such lives, and assume their families feel the same.

In reading the article it was revealed to me that they are thinking of moving out of their parents houses and living together.  So sadly, their manager encourages such action.

The chorus sings “All the things she said, all the things she said, running through my head, running through my head, running through my head.”

Over top of the chorus is “This is not in love”.  Well that’s comforting.  It is comforting that they are at least aware of the possible idea of homosexuality not being in love.  However, their walking off together in the end of the video suggests their difference of opinion, or they simply don’t care.

Thousands of cases, involving our addressing of homosexuality, or really all types of sin, jump out in front of us everyday.  Too often, we maintain, or increase, our pace balling them over leaving them for scavengers to take their claim.  But it is not God’s will for us to condemn the sinners, he asks us to condemn the sin.  Yes, they are wrong for partaking in such evil activities, but often this is because of our apathetic response towards them.

Of course it is easy for us to stand behind the gate and throw disappointed, or even worse disgusted, looks through the bars at them, condemning them as human beings.

But, Jesus loves them.  Jesus loves everyone.  God is our Father.  We, WE are his children.  He wants us to slow down our prideful pace and step through those bars, and hold out our humble hands, and love them.

“This is not in love.”  Using this particular case just as an example, let us show them what love is.  ‘Cause if we don’t, Satan will.
