WOMER'S WISDOM

Dear Womer,

My girlfriend seems to compare her body image with her friends and asks me if I will still love her if she gained weight or got injured? I say I will but she worries I will be like the guys who have left their girlfriend.
                                                                        Mr. Concerned

Dear Mr. Concerned,
Since the beginning of time this question has been asked in one form or another in many relationships:
‘Will you love me if I gained weight, if I lost an arm and a leg, and so on?’

I believe the main reasoning behind being bombarded with these questions by your significant other is for one word: AFFECTION.

Your girlfriend wants to hear you say that you will love her no matter what the circumstances may be. This gives her a feeling of comfort that if he loves me in any of those situations then he will always love me.

So my advice would be not to worry about her comparing you to guys who dump their girlfriends in those situations. As long as your reply to the questions is, “Yes, I would still love ya!” and you genuinely mean it then everything will be ok because she will come to eventually believe it herself!

Sincerely,
Womer
