“Trail
of Tears!”
By Pete Lee
VP of Operations
Editors Note: Pete's poetry on 'Trail of Tears' was inspired by the
Cherokee Removal Act of 1830.
Life's a box of chocolates, you never know
the contents
Intoxicating incense, boxing with my conscience
Rebel raps, contagious like anthrax
Equality may be a right but the world can't make it a fact
Burning ancient villages with streams of gold
Cooking up revenge in a dish best served cold
Represent for dead presidents, immigrants work harder
And smarter because they know God is the color of water
These homicidal genocides are real capitalistic
A single death's a tragedy but a million's just a statistic
Let my spirit blaze, echoing the sound of waves
Tomorrow's broken promised say good bye to yesterday.
Heaven's just a mile away baby look we made it this far
It's not what's inside but your actions that define who you are
And my faith is like a window peeping out prison bars
The truth may hurt but a lie will cut even deeper scars
