“Bless Lives Establishing Savior's Salvation! (B.L.E.S.S)

SCRIPTURE:
“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 
 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them, and blessed them.” (Mark 10:15-16, NIV)

OBSERVATION:
I asked myself, what did Jesus do with the children?

1. Jesus took the children in His arms.
2. Jesus placed His hands on them.
3. Jesus blessed them.

INTERPRETATION:
I asked myself, what is the significance of Jesus taking the children in His arms, placing His hands on them, and blessing them?

I am reminded of Numbers 6:24-26, which says, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’

Jesus wants their lives to be governed by His Name. Jesus makes it very personal for the children by taking them in His arms, placing His hands on them, and blessing them. In essence, Jesus is making it personal for the children to remember. I would not be surprised if Jesus used the blessing from Numbers to point the children to Father God and the Kingdom of God. It was not a faraway blessing or a distant blessing but a personal blessing in His bosom.

IMPLICATIONS:
I saw important implications for my own life here. Just as Jesus took the children in His arms, placed His hands on them, and blessed them, I need to do the same with my children. However, my blessing in their lives must be biblically based and point them to the Lord Jesus. They need to be blessed in the Name of the Lord. They need to know that the Lord is capable of blessing them, keeping them in His care, making His face shine upon them, being gracious unto them, turning His face towards them, and giving them peace.

Every time I remember, when my precious wife Chandraleela wakes up, I say the blessing to her by placing my hands on her and blessing her. Through the years, I would take Esther and Evangeline in my arms and say the blessing to them as I placed my hand on them. At other times, I would say the blessing to them over the phone, from a distance, etc, if I don’t see them in person right away. This blessing is to show them it is from the Lord, and I am asking the Lord for intervention and blessing in their lives that can come from the Lord. Just as Jesus took children in His arms, placed His hands on them, and blessed them, I need to do the same.

I ask you now, dear friends, how do you B.L.E.S.S your children in life?
Dear friend, the best way to bless your children in life is by following the example of Jesus. Take them in your arms, place your hands on them, and bless them in the Name of the Lord. You can use the blessing from Numbers 6:24-26 to bless them.

You can also use passages from the New Testament, such as Ephesians 3:14-21, which says, “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

Or you can use a passage from Philippians 1:9-11 says, “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,  filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.”

Moreover, you can use a passage from Hebrews 13:20-21 which says, “Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

While serving in ministry with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship as a student, staff volunteer, and staff member, I also maintained the Pitt-IVCF website at the same time. My favorite blessing for students to read was from Hebrews 13:20-21 for them. So, when Pastor Jesse uses this blessing at the end of the service, I am deeply touched by what Jesus has done for us and will continue to do for us.

The blessings in Scripture are not limited to those four, but there are many more prayerful blessings in Scripture. We can use them to bless our children personally, but these blessings can also be used to bless adults in Jesus' name.

May you bless lives, establishing Savior’s salvation! Amen!

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you so much for the example you have set for us when you told the disciples not to hinder the children from coming to you. Not only that Lord but you reminded us that we need to come to you with faith as a little child. Afterwards, you made it personal by taking a child in your arms, placing your hands on them, and blessing them. Thank you for the example you set for us. Help us, Oh Lord to do the same to bless our children using blessings from Scripture. Help us to bless others too. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

 

 If you would like to invite Jesus Christ into your heart and make Him a daily part of your life, you can this very moment. You will never be alone. You can claim God's promises for you in the Bible and see them come true, before your eyes, in His wonderful timing. You don't have to wait for a special time to come to the Lord. You can come right now as you pray the prayer below, meaning it in your heart.

Prayer:
God I am a sinner. I am invaded by this deadliest virus. Many times I feel so guilty and yucky inside. I need forgiveness. I am so sorry for my sins. I have not obeyed you with my whole heart! I have gone my own way and done my own things. I  struggle with sin. I need you Jesus in my life so I can receive forgiveness and a new beginning. In the process, I can forgive others as you help me too. Thank you so much Jesus. I accept the antidote you have sent me. I believe Jesus you died for me and your cleansing blood will cleanse me from all my sins. You came back to life to save me. Thank you God I am set free, free from the bondage of sin. Hear my cry Oh Lord. I accept you Jesus into my heart. I make you my Lord and Personal Savior of my life. Thank you Father God for giving me Salvation. Thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and making my heart your home. Thank you for living in me Jesus and I will live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. Thank you for being my Lord and personal Savior! I can live a life of peace with you on my side. Thank you that you have heard my prayer and answered me! In your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help!

"May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to you, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer." (Psalm 19:14)
