When my 12-year old daughter Esther wanted to watch
"Thunderbolts" with her friends, I told her that she could only
watch it after I review the movie and it gets my approval. Her
friend called my wife Chandraleela if I had already reviewed the
movie. After watching the movie, I told Chandraleela and Esther that
it gets a double thumbs up! Now, Esther is excited to watch the
movie with her friends.
"Thunderbolts" is one of the best Marvel Cinematic Universe
(MCU) movies that I have watched in a long time. What makes
"Thunderbolts" the best movie is the themes that are woven throughout
the movie. The themes of individualism vs community, I vs team, good
vs evil, darkness vs light, lost vs redemption, sin vs
righteousness, sacrifice, father-daughter relationship, voidness vs
fulfillment,
past
vs present, regrets vs forgiveness, life vs death, friends vs
enemies, doing the right thing vs doing the wrong thing, mistakes vs
correction, family harmony vs family breakage, shame vs honor,
disability vs ability, etc are many of the themes that make you want
to watch the movie over and over again.
When you see what each character is
made up off and is going through, it is not far fetched to see which
character you relate with and why.
We are all sinful beings, and our
lives can be seen through one of these characters at one point or
another in our lives.

These are not all the themes
addressed in "Thunderbolts".
What are the themes you see in
"Thunderbolts" that have not been mentioned in this article?
After you
have answered these questions in your own life and compared them to
the movie "Thunderbolts", how do these actions compare to what we
learn from the Bible when it comes to themes like
individualism
vs community, I vs team, good vs evil, darkness vs light, lost vs
redemption, sin vs righteousness, sacrifice, father-daughter
relationship, voidness vs fulfillment,
past
vs present, regrets vs forgiveness, life vs death, friends vs
enemies, doing the right thing vs doing the wrong thing, mistakes vs
correction, family harmony vs family breakage, shame vs honor,
disability vs ability,
God’s Word is the Pittsburgh
Standard for Living and beyond.
How can we deal with any of these
themes from a Biblical perspective?
What are areas in the movie
"Thunderbolts" that can remind you of what it says in the Bible?
In conclusion, "Thunderbolts" is a
movie that can be watched for its themes that can excite us about
God’s Word. That said, there are areas in the movie that do not
abide by God’s Word.
In those areas, where violence is
used, language is used, etc, we need to ask ourselves what the Bible
says about how we should live because God’s Word is the Pittsburgh
Standard for Living and beyond.
"Thunderbolts"
gets a positive rating for its wonderful themes that definitely
point to the Bible in many areas but it gets a negative rating for
its violence and language.
However, it is a movie that can be
watched by anyone as long as there is a discussion afterwards
regarding the themes when it comes to our own lives, the character’s
in the movie, and what the Bible says about these themes.
