“Praise Almighty Lord Mightily! (P.A.L.M)”

Ramesh C. Reddy
Publisher

SCRIPTURE:

“They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna!" "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the King of Israel!" (John 12:13, NIV)

Observations:
I asked myself what did the great crowd do when they heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem?

1. They took palm branches!
2.
They went out to meet Jesus!
3.
They shouted, 'Hosanna!'
4.
They shouted, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"
5.
They shouted, 'Blessed is the King of Israel!"

Interpretation:
I asked myself what is the significance of taking 'palm branches' and shouting 'Hosanna!' 'Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the King of Israel"?
Of all the branches that the crowd could have taken, they took palm branches because palm branches were seen as luxurious to be used to
'rejoice before the LORD'. In Leviticus 23:40 we discover, "On the first day you are to take branches from luxuriant trees-from palms, willows and other leafy trees--and rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days." Now, the crowds wanted to give Jesus a luxurious celebration for who they saw Him to be. They must have seen Jesus as their LORD so whatever is mentioned in Leviticus, they did it for Jesus, rejoicing before the LORD shouting, 'Hosanna!' 'Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord!" 'Blessed is the King of Israel'! Not only that but we discover in the prophetic book of Revelation that palm branches are used again to 'rejoice before the LORD' when we read, "After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." (Revelation 7:9-10, NIV) This is so similar to 'Hosanna!' which means 'LORD, save us'. They saw Jesus as their Savior whom they celebrated with palm branches. But the way Jesus came to save and the way they expected to be saved will be so different which they will discover in the following seven days. When they shout, 'Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the LORD', they are shouting a prophecy in Psalm 118:25-26 which says, "LORD, save us! LORD, grant us success!' 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD." So here they see Jesus as their Lord! It is very interesting that Lord is capitalized because when you compare the capitalization of LORD in these verses, they point to Jesus as God, the Savior and Lord of mankind. They end their shouting with 'Blessed is the King of Israel'. Here they acknowledge that the Kingdom of Israel belongs to Jesus, their King.

What will happen next?

Stay tuned for the exciting saga to see what Jesus will do!

Implications:
I asked myself what are the implications for my own life?
Jesus deserves my best in all that I do just as the crowd gave Jesus the best celebration using palm branches which were considered luxuriant by the Lord. Not only that but I need to acknowledge Jesus as my Hosanna, the One who saves for Eternity. But, it is not enough to acknowledge Jesus just as my Savior but I need to acknowledge Him as my LORD too. Help me Jesus. When I acknowledge Jesus as my Lord and Personal Savior, I am basically making Jesus the King of my life which means I am His subject under His authority. To follow the King, I need to listen to His Word and put it into practice. Help me Jesus. But for this all to happen, I need to know what I need to be saved from. The answer is revealed in John again when the Word says,
"Look, the Lamb of God who takes the sin of the world!". I need to be saved from sin and Jesus has become my Savior. Thank you Jesus!

I ask you now dear friend, why should a  P.A.L.M branch matter to you in your life?
Dear friend, a palm branch in your life can have so much meaning if you realize the significance of the palm branch. The palm branch is what was used to celebrate Jesus' coming into Jerusalem with the shouts,
'Hosanna', 'Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the LORD', 'Blessed is the King of Israel'. A luxurious thing was used to celebrate the coming of a Savior, Lord, and King in Jesus. Yes, friend! So every time you realize the significance of a palm branch being used on Palm Sunday, you are remembering that Jesus was praised for what He would do. Jesus came to become the Savior and Lord of all who would accept Him.

"To all who received Him, He gave them right to become children of God, children born not of the flesh but of the Spirit' (John 1:12)

How exciting it is that the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world by becoming our Savior gives us the right to become His children being born of the Spirit when we acknowledge that Jesus alone can save us. Thank you Jesus so much! Also, that He wants to be our Lord of lords and King of Kings is so exciting to know! Thank you Jesus!

So a palm branch should matter in your life because it points to Jesus for what He wants to do in your life. When you lay palm branches at the feet of Jesus, you are symbolically giving up worldly pleasures and luxuries for the eternal life that Christ, our Lord and Savior wants to offer you now and forever more. This reminds me of what Mary did the day before which is based on the Lent Devotional: "Why reflect on what happened to Jesus' dirty/stinky F.E.E.T one day?"   By Ramesh C. Reddy (April 06, 20, 11:32 a.m)

When you remember the significance of palm branches in honor and praise of Jesus, you are giving Jesus the best wave because Palm branches were considered luxuriant and a way to rejoice in the LORD your God! Praise the Lord! What is more exciting is that one day all of us from ever nation, tribe, people, and language will be all holding palm branches in Heaven rejoicing in the Lord our God singing, 'Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb' (Revelation 7:9) when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Personal Savior! Amen!

So friend, come as you are and receive what the Lord Jesus has in store for you as millions celebrate Palm Sunday.

May you come to experience the love of the Lord as you consider why a palm branch should matter to you in life!

'Praise Almighty Lord Mightily!' (P.A.L.M)/"Why should a P.A.L.M branch matter to you in life?"

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you so much for what I learned regarding the people using palm branches to celebrate your coming. You Oh Lord remind us that palm branches are luxuriant and they should be used to rejoice in the Lord our God. The people did just that rejoicing in your coming. Oh Lord let us always rejoice in you Lord for you have come and saved us for eternity from the bondage and slavery to sin. You have delivered us and given us new life because we have come to accept you as our Lord and Personal Savior who alone is our Hosanna, our Savior. Thank you that you are the One who saves. Thank you that you are the One who leads. We need you in our lives. Help us to remember who you are and what you came to do as we commemorate Palm Sunday. Thanks so much JESUS! Thanks for being our God who saves. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

You are my all in all. You are my Prince of Peace, Rock, Savior, and Friend. You are my Holy Father guiding me through to live a life of righteousness, holy righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I need to feel your hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround me so that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh God you love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you. When I seek your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you Jesus so much for your help no matter what I face, your grace is available and you take my case. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN! (Most of the prayer is from a vineyard song called “All in All”

May the Lord Jesus guide you in His love leading you! Amen!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His grace alone!
