Editors Note: As I do This Day In Biblical
Verses, I will choose a Bible verse and do an inductive Bible study
and exposition of that verse to share the implications that I have
learned and what it can mean for all of us. Today, I chose from
Philippians 1:19 from yesterday.
SCRIPTURE:
"Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know through your prayers
and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to
me will turn out for my deliverance." (Philippians 1:19, NIV)
OBSERVATION:
I asked myself, what 3 things do I learn about Paul?
1.
I will continue to rejoice.
2.
I know through your prayers what has happened to me will turn out for
my deliverance.
3.
I know through the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has
happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.
I decided to focus on points 2 & 3 today:
OBSERVATION:
I asked myself what has happened to Paul? Reading the
verses before this verse, I learned that Paul was in prison and in
chains for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I asked myself what does Paul believe will
turn out for his deliverance? It is
through the prayers of the saints
in Philippi and through the help given by the
Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to him will turn out for
his deliverance.
INTEREPRETATION:
I asked myself why is it so significant that
Paul says 'through your
[saints in Philippi] prayers and the help given
by the Spirit of Jesus Christ', what has happened to me will turn
out for my deliverance?
First and foremost, Paul believes that what has happened to him will
turn out for his deliverance because of the prayers of the saints in
Philippi through the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ. This
means when he thinks about the prayers for him, he realizes he will
be helped because those prayers are to Jesus Christ who will help
him. He knows the importance of intercessory prayer and its impact.
IMPLICATIONS: I saw important
implications for my own life. If my loved ones or I are to have
deliverance in our lives from anything, it cannot just happen
on its own. It encourages me to know the power of prayer to
the Lord Jesus Christ that initiates the deliverance as we do our
part.
Last week and even today, I have seen the cause and
effects of prayer for deliverance in our own lives. My darling wife
Chandraleela was not feeling well for
sometime. I took her to the emergency room on Martin Luther King Jr
holiday because for awhile her left side of the head had a piercing
pain inside. Then, that pain spread to the left eye and ear. Later,
the pain reached the neck and she could not even move her neck.
I knew what I needed to do and sent a prayer request to all the
pastors that I know to pray to the Lord Jesus to deliver
my sweetie from what she was going through.
Pastor Mike and
Pastor Josh kept in touch with me these past 10 days. One day
after the ER, she took a prescription medication and slept the whole
day for almost 20 hrs. The medication made things worse instead of
better. Through the prayers of others, we could see slow healing in
Chandra's life. My mom would continue to pray for her
daughter-in-law. My wife was really touched when
Pastor Mike, Jeanne, Courtney, Karis,
and Suzanne reached out to her in her
sickness through their support and prayers.
Soon her pain in the left side of the head, eyes, ear, and
neck was gone. We knew the Lord Jesus was answering prayer for her
deliverance. It became that much more evident when
Pastor Mike wrote to me that a lot of
brothers and sisters from church were praying for her. She was so
happy the other pain which had lasted for more than a month was
gone.
Days later, she had only pain in the back and ribs which made it
even hard for her to move. Those days, we ordered her favorite foods
from Chick Fil A, chicken biriyani from Coriander, and spicy crunchy
hot peppers and chicken from Howlee's. I wanted her to rest as
much as possible. I prepared food for the kids at home. As the
prayers continued, her pain started to subside too even though she
did not take medication.
Now today, she only has pain on the right side of her
shoulder. We are so thankful for all who have been praying to the
Lord Jesus for her. The first few days have been very scary
for us. But by the Lord's grace and the prayers of the pastors, the
brothers and sisters of Oakland International
Fellowship, and family with the
help given by our Lord Jesus Christ, we are seeing deliverance in
her life. Please continue to pray for her complete healing.
I have put Scripture memory songs on healing for my wife, songs
about the blood of Christ healing her, and praying Psalm 91 for her
life. We don't know when the Lord will choose to complete heal her
but we have seen so much healing and deliverance. Thank you Jesus. I
have been praying for deliverance from my short-temper and don't
know when that will come but I know Jesus hears our prayers and is
our Jehovah Rophe-The Lord our Healer.
I ask you now dear friends, where do you need
D.E.L.I.V.E.R.A.N.C.E in life? Dear friends, I don't know
what you need deliverance from but the Lord Jesus knows. Whatever
you need deliverance from, turn it to the Lord Jesus in prayer and
ask for family, pastors, and congregation members to pray for you.
Never ever take lightly the power of prayer to the Lord Jesus
Christ. Our Lord who is the Creator of the Universe, who can raise
the dead to life can perform any healing even now if He chooses to.
We need to ask and expect an answer. We need to also ask for the
Lord's will in the situation.
I say that because deliverance does not always come as we expect it
to sometimes. When my dad went into cardiac arrest, we prayed for
his complete healing. We saw so many miracles in my dad's life for
those 70 days he was with us. But the greatest miracle of all was
him giving his life to Christ before He went to be with the Lord.
His deliverance came in multiple ways even though he did not live a
physical life anymore. We know because of the Lord's
intervention, He lived those 70 days and amazed doctos,
nurses, etc as my mom read to him the Bible everyday at his bedside.
Whatever the doctors tell you keep your focus on Jesus and hope for
miracles. He can grant deliverance in His timing. Friend, we are
living in hard times these days but don't give up.
The greatest deliverance each of us need is to be delivered from the
bondage of sin and death. If you know of anyone who needs that,
don't stop praying for them to the Lord Jesus. Never give up for
God's timing is not our timing. We prayed for our dad for 22 years
before he gave his life to Christ. Issac wanted a child and waited
and prayed for 20 years before Rebekah conceived. Our friends prayed
and waited for 8 long years before conceiving again. The Lord can
open barren wombs, heal in unexpected ways, but most of all save
souls. Wait upon the Lord. Be brave and stouthearted. Be courageous.
Jesus loves you so much that He died on the cross shedding His
precious Blood to deliver you and me from the bondage of sin and
death. Take the deliverance He offers you if you already have not.
May you see the Lord's deliverance in your life, now and
always! Amen!

D.E.L.I.V.E.R.A.N.C.E in life?"
Prayer: Lord Jesus, the apostle Paul was able to rejoice and be
happy even though he was in chains and locked up in prison because
he also knew deliverance could be at hand because of the prayers of
the Philippians and the help given by you Lord Jesus. You Oh Lord
are the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. What you did then, you
can even do now. So, Oh Lord, we pray that you Oh Lord will bring
deliverance in the lives of those who are sick spiritually,
physically, emotionally, relationally, mentally, etc. They need your
healing touch which you can give if you choose to for you are our
Jehovah Rophe - The Lord our Healer. We pray and expect because we
know you answer. Thank you for your answers. Let us never take for
granted those you have placed in our lives for we do not know when
they will leave. Thank you for hearing the intercessory prayers of
your children for those who need deliverance. We depend on you
especially for the souls of people who are dying physically that
they may not die a double death. Save their souls so they can be
with you. Help us never to give up to pray for the deliverance of
others. Thanks so much Jesus. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!
If you would like to
invite Jesus Christ into your heart and make Him a daily part of your
life, you can this very moment. You will never be alone. You can claim
God's promises for you in the Bible and see them come true, before your
eyes, in His wonderful timing. You don't have to wait for a special time
to come to the Lord. You can come right now as you pray the prayer
below, meaning it in your heart.
Prayer:
God I am a sinner. I am invaded by this deadliest virus. Many times I
feel so guilty and yucky inside. I need forgiveness. I am so sorry for
my sins. I have not obeyed you with my whole heart! I have gone my own
way and done my own things. I struggle with sin. I need you Jesus
in my life so I can receive forgiveness and a new beginning. In the
process, I can forgive others as you help me to. Thank you so much
Jesus. I accept the antidote you have sent me. I believe Jesus you died
for me and your cleansing blood will cleanse me from all my sins. You
came back to life to save me. Thank you God I am set free, free from the
bondage of sin. Hear my cry Oh Lord. I accept you Jesus into my heart. I
make you my Lord and Personal Savior of my life. Thank you Father God
for giving me Salvation. Thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and
making my heart your home. Thank you for living in me Jesus and I will
live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. Thank you
for being my Lord and personal Savior! I can live a life of peace with
you on my side. Thank you that you have heard my prayer and answered me!
In your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN!
No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come
in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong
with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a
friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in
His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to
heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark
before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show
you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important
to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a
Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to
Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who
brings us hope, healing, and help!
No matter who you are, it is not ever too
late to join a Bible-believing church or a college fellowship. I highly
encourage each of you to come to Small Group on Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. and Oakland International Fellowship on Sunday
mornings at 9:00 a.m. for prayer, 10:00 a.m. for Community Bible Time in
Gospel of John, worship at 11:30 a.m, and fellowship lunch at 12:30 pm.
May the Lord's presence and peace fill you
with His love now and forever! Amen!
Friend, if you have prayed this prayer and meant it in your heart, you
are a new creation in Christ and all old things are passed away and
everything has become new! You may feel something or may not but don’t
base it on feelings but base your new life in Christ on the promises of
our Savior who will never leave you nor forsake you! Amen!
