SCRIPTURE:
"As soon as they left the
synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and
Andrew. Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told
Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The
fever left her and she began to wait on them." (Mark 1:29-31, NIV)
Observations:
I asked myself what were
the results of Jesus’ actions?
There were five points I saw:
1. Jesus had just taught at the synagogue
previously and healed a man who was demon-possessed (Mark 1:21-28)
2. Jesus went with James and John to the home of Peter and Andrew
after they left the synagogue.
3. The disciples found out that Peter's
mother-in-law was sick with a fever and told Jesus about her.
4. Jesus goes to her, takes her by the hand and
helps her.
5. The fever left her and she waits upon them.
Observations/Interpretations:
I asked myself the significance of POINT 3?
Point 3: The disciples found out that Peter's
mother-in-law was sick with a fever and told Jesus about her.
When the disciples saw Peter's mother-in-law was
sick, they knew exactly what had to be done and went to Jesus to ask His
help with the situation they were faced with. I found it
interesting that the disciples and not just Peter alone intervened
regarding Peter's mother-in-law. They wanted to help Peter's
mother-in-law. It shows again the emphasis on community and bearing one
another's burdens. They did not talk to Jesus as a last resort but
talked to Jesus as a first resort interceding on behalf of Peter's
mother-in-law.
(To be continued)
Implications:
I saw important implications for my own life here. As the
disciples interceded before Jesus on behalf of Peter's mother-in-law,
carrying her burden of sickness before Jesus, I need to do the same
regarding the burdens my brothers and sisters are carrying. I should not
let them carry their burdens alone but become a helping hand.
I ask you now dear friend, whose
B.U.R.D.E.N.S do you bear?
Dear friend, whosoever's burden you bear, you will become such a
blessing to them by your actions because you will make a difference
in their life and help them accomplish something they would not have
been able to do on their own. You will have interceded on their
behalf to be their blessing. You can do that right now as you think
about the immediate burden of those you know. The intervention can
come directly through your help by your helping hand, prayer, etc.
I speak from experience because 5 years ago, I was very burdened to move a lot of
stuff before bringing my loving, darling wife Chandra to the U.S on
New Years Eve of 2011. I would
not have been able to do it on my own without the help of
David,
Yvonne, Jomei,
Johannes, Steve,
Daniel, and Matt. They were such a
blessing to help me move a lot of stuff to storage. The Lord used
them mightily in my life 5 years ago in December 2011. They exemplified
Galatians 6:2 by bearing my burden.
It did not stop there but
Calvin
and
Elise
gave my wife and I a ride from the airport when she first landed in
America so we did not have to drag 6 suitcases in the 28X.
Afterwards, they even gave Chandra and I a housewarming/welcome
party to welcome her to the U.S and to Oakland International
Fellowship with the help of so many brothers and sisters who
showered us with gifts.
Meera, Cecilia, Eric, Steve, Vicki, Pastor Hugo, Elder Bill, Matt,
Suzanne, Rodney, Rebecca, Edwin, Marie, Pastor Ed, Pin Hsi, David,
Yvonne, Kristen, and
Josh
relieved a burden of Chandra of not knowing anyone here by welcoming
her with their love.
The time given her and the gifts not only made
Chandra feel loved but also relieved a burden regarding the things
we needed to buy. But most of all they have been praying for us.
Even after all this, David and Yvonne still took time from
their own schedule to help us shop for almost 5 hrs to buy the
things we needed and wanted. So did
Pastor Hugo
and my brother Ravi.
My brothers
Raj
and
Rohit
made a huge difference to with their gift. My
mom
and my brother
Ravi
renovated the place to look like someone had signed a new lease and
were moving.
All this made such an impact on our lives because they chose to bear
our burden. Bearing someone else's burden does not have to be going
to extreme lengths. It can also be as simple as praying for someone
in need bringing them before Father God for His
intervention as the disciples did.
But to do all this you need to be involved in the lives of others
so you know how to help out. If the disciples were not involved in
the life of Peter, they would not have known about the condition of
Peter's mother-in-law to bear her burden before Jesus. In the same
way, we need to be involved in the lives of others to bear their
burden.
May you find time to bear the burden of one another trusting in
the Lord to lead knowing burdens understands Redeemer daily
emancipating now Scripturally using you!
"Burdens Understands Redeemer Daily Emancipating Now
Scripturally! (B.U.R.D.E.N.S.)/"Whose B.U.R.D.E.N.S. do you bear?"
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you so much for teaching me to bear the burdens of
one another. Thanks for those you put in our own lives to bear our
burden. Help us to do the same for others as you guide and lead us.
Thank you Jesus for being our burden bearer and using us as vessels
to bear the burdens of those you put on our heart! In Your Name I
Pray Jesus! Amen!
Lord Jesus,
You are my all in
all. You are my Prince of Peace, Rock, Savior, and Friend. You are my
Holy Father guiding me through to live a life of righteousness, holy
righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I need to feel your
hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround me so
that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your
presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh
God you love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you.
When I seek your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you
Jesus so much for your help no matter what I face, your grace is
available and you take my case. Thank you for hearing us and answering
us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN! (Most of the prayer is from a
vineyard song called “All in All”)
"May my spoken words and
unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to you, O Lord my Rock and my
Redeemer." (Psalm 19:14)
If you would like to invite Jesus Christ into your heart and make Him a
daily part of your life, you can this very moment. You will never be
alone. You can claim God's promises for you in the Bible and see them
come true, before your eyes, in His wonderful timing. You don't have to
wait for a special time to come to the Lord. You can come right now as
you pray the prayer below, meaning it in your heart.
Prayer:
God I am a sinner. I am invaded by this deadliest virus. Many times I
feel so guilty and yucky inside. I need forgiveness. I am so sorry for
my sins. I have not obeyed you with my whole heart! I have gone my own
way and done my own things. I struggle with sin. I need you Jesus
in my life so I can receive forgiveness and a new beginning. In the
process, I can forgive others as you help me to. Thank you so much
Jesus. I accept the antidote you have sent me. I believe Jesus you died
for me and your cleansing blood will cleanse me from all my sins. You
came back to life to save me. Thank you God I am set free, free from the
bondage of sin. Hear my cry Oh Lord. I accept you Jesus into my heart. I
make you my Lord and Personal Savior of my life. Thank you Father God
for giving me Salvation. Thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and
making my heart your home. Thank you for living in me Jesus and I will
live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. Thank you
for being my Lord and personal Savior! I can live a life of peace with
you on my side. Thank you that you have heard my prayer and answered me!
In your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN!
No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in
and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with
the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend.
You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word
reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you
and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before
moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to
which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be
part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible
believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to
Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who
brings us hope, healing, and help!
No matter who you are, it is not ever too late
to join a Bible-believing church or a college fellowship. I highly
encourage each of you to come to Transformers Small Group on Friday
nights at 7:00 p.m. and Oakland International Fellowship on Sunday
mornings at 9:30 a.m. for prayer, 11:30 a.m. for worship, 10:30 a.m. for
Sunday School, and 12:30 p.m. for fellowship lunch.
May the Lord's presence and peace fill you with His love now and
forever! Amen!
Friend, if you have prayed this prayer and meant it in your heart, you
are a new creation in Christ and all old things are passed away and
everything has become new! You may feel something or may not but don’t
base it on feelings but base your new life in Christ on the promises of
our Savior who will never leave you nor forsake you! Amen!
