“Realize Everyday, Jesus Offers Inner Comfort Eternally! (R.E.J.O.I.C.E)”

Ramesh C. Reddy

SCRIPTURE:
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4)

Observations:I asked myself what words or phrases are repeated?
REJOICE!

Interpretation:
I asked myself what is significant about Paul saying "Rejoice in the Lord always, I say it again: Rejoice!"
I found it so amazing that of all people, Paul would put an emphasis to REJOICE even after he is shackled in chains and under arrest.  The key word for me is ALWAYS.

This means when things are going well in our lives but it also means when things don't go well in our lives. It is not just rejoicing for the sake of rejoicing but he emphasizes 'in the Lord.'

This showed me that our rejoicing in the Lord should not be based upon our circumstances whether they are good or bad. If that were the case Paul would have no reason to rejoice. But rejoicing should be because we have voted Jesus Christ in our hearts and He will be there for us. It is also not just rejoicing once or twice but Paul puts an emphasis on 'always'.

Implications:

I asked myself what are the important implications for my life here?
I see the command here to rejoice in the Lord always. After 22 years of working an awesome job for Sodexo Dining Services, I lost my job. Later, we found out that our landlord did not want to renew our lease and gave us 90 days to vacate. In situations that look dire, rejoicing is not the first thing that comes to mind. But, Oh no, this is terrible and I cannot believe this is happening.

Ironically, it is in these situations, rejoicing is that much more important and pertinent because if we give into the misery, we fall into Satan's clutches and eventually into depression.

But, when we rejoice in the Lord, we are saying to the Lord that we will not base our joy and happiness on the circumstances we face, but we will look to you Oh Lord who can work through these circumstances. I always remember that the Lord inhabits the praises of His people and a thankful heart is a grateful heart.

Pastor Josh and Pastor Mike have reminded me, that though we think we have lost something great, our Lord Jesus can bring something even greater than we lost if He chooses to. Thank you Jesus. I love how Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego served the Lord. I want my family and I to serve the Lord in all circumstances. Help us Lord Jesus.

“Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,” he demanded, “that you are refusing to serve my gods or to worship the gold statue I set up? I’ll give you one more chance. When the music plays, if you fall down and worship the statue, all will be well. But if you refuse, you will be thrown into a flaming furnace within the hour. And what god can deliver you out of my hands then?”Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not worried about what will happen to us. If we are thrown into the flaming furnace, our God is able to deliver us; and he will deliver us out of your hand, Your Majesty. But if he doesn’t, please understand, sir, that even then we will never under any circumstance serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have erected.” (Daniel 3:15-18, TLB)

In our family trials, Pastor Bucknell shared with us from Habakkuk 3:17-18 which states, "Even though the fig trees are all destroyed, and there is neither blossom left nor fruit; though the olive crops all fail, and the fields lie barren; even if the flocks die in the fields and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be happy in the God of my salvation."

How can someone rejoice when all of this is happening?

How is the Apostle Paul able to rejoice?

The answer is found in the next verse in Habakkuk 3:19:

"The Lord God is my strength; he will give me the speed of a deer and bring me safely over the mountains." (Habakkuk 3:19)

They are able to rejoice because instead of looking at their problems, they are looking to the One who has the solution. Thank you Jesus!

As I was praying and reflecting on what is happening in our life, the Lord Jesus brought to remembrance verses from Psalm 34. As I read Psalm 34 I felt so much peace because I knew God keeps His promises. Through His grace and mercy, I have never felt in life that I have lacked anything. If anything, our family has always experienced His provision in different ways even if it is not luxurious living.  Thank you Jesus. As I mentioned in another devotional, when I have taken my daughter Esther (7) to school, she recites Bible verses for me and then tells me 5 things she is thankful for from the night before. I want to instill in my daughter the importance of being thankful and grateful for what we have and also don't have because there is a reason the Lord wants us to rejoice. What I am most excited about is doing online ministry reaching souls for Christ as we depend on the Lord for His provision. He has never disappointed! Thank you Jesus!  I am so thankful to the Lord that my precious wife Chandraleela grew up rejoicing in the Lord and continues to do that even now singing to our Evangeline (4) songs of rejoicing to help her sleep

I ask you now dear friend, when do you R.E.J.O.I.C.E in life?
Dear friend, it is so easy to rejoice when things go our way. Anybody can do that. I want to be able to rejoice in the Lord always because that's what the Word of God says. I don't know what you are going through now but this I know, rejoicing in the Lord is having our focus upon Him knowing He is there for us as our Lord and Personal Savior no matter what we face. It means we rejoice in the Lord in the good and the bad. How awesome it is that it can also bring health benefits.

Today, I was reading Proverbs 17 for April 17th when verse 24 gave me a chuckle: "A cheerful heart does good like medicine but a broken spirit makes one sick!" (Proverbs 17:24, TLB)

May you find ways to rejoice in the Lord knowing He loves you and cares for you offering you inner comfort eternally! Amen!

"Realize Everyday, Jesus Offers Inner Comfort Eternally! (R.E.J.O.I.C.E)/"When do you R.E.J.O.I.C.E in life?"

Prayer:
Jesus, your Word says that we should rejoice in you Lord always but that's not always easy. Forgive us Lord when we allow circumstances of life to take away the inner joy you want to give us. Thank you for offering us inner comfort eternally. Whatever pain we are going through let us not forget that you are there for us. Help us to rejoice in that always even through our circumstances. And Lord, I know you can change circumstances in our lives. And if you would intervene in the lives of those troubled, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you Lord whatever you decide to do, you have our best interests in mind. Help us to love you with our whole heart. For I want to know you Jesus more and more. We thank you for your Word and help us please apply it. Help us to rest in you. Thank you for being there for us and answering prayer. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

You are my all in all. You are my Prince of Peace, Rock, Savior, and Friend. You are my Holy Father guiding me through to live a life of righteousness, holy righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I need to feel your hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround me so that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh God you love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you. When I seek your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you Jesus so much for your help no matter what I face, your grace is available and you take my case. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN! (Most of the prayer is from a vineyard song called “All in All”)

May the Lord Jesus guide you in His love leading you! Amen!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His grace alone!
