Peace Enters As Christ Enters! (P.E.A.C.E)

Ramesh C. Reddy
Publisher

SCRIPTURE:
“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice.  And the God of peace be with you!  (Philippians 4:9)

OBSERVATIONS:
I asked myself what does Paul want the Philippians to put into practice?
1. Whatever you have learned from me.
2. Whatever you have received from me.
3. Whatever you have heard from me.
4. Whatever you have seen in me.
Put it into practice!!!

OBSERVATION:
I asked myself what outcome does Paul promise the Philippians when they put into practice what they have learned, received, heard, or seen in him?

Paul promises that the God of peace will be with them!

I asked myself what are the important implications for my own life here?
I find it very interesting that God's peace is based upon me putting into into practice what I have learned from God's Word, received from God's Word, heard from God's Word, and seen in God's Word so my life can reflect Christ in me the Hope of Glory. This tells me we can only experience God's peace when we are rooted in God's Word and find our nourishment from Him.

"And now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust him, too, for each day’s problems; live in vital union with him. Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him. See that you go on growing in the Lord, and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all he has done." (Colossians 2:6-7, TLB)

"We grow only as we get our nourishment and strength from God." (Colossians 2:19, TLB)

"But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who obey him, whether they are Jews or Gentiles." (Romans 2:10, TLB)

"So now, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith in his promises, we can have real peace with him because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us." (Romans 5:1, TLB)

"Following after the Holy Spirit leads to life and peace but following after the old nature leads to death." (Romans 8:6, TLB)

This means we need to be very cautious about people who want to go against the Bible and say, 'I have a peace about it!'.

The classic story about 'Having peace about it' was shared by my former  Pastor Hugo Cheng of Oakland International Fellowship. He recalled a story of a pastor who confronted one of the congregation members and asked, 'Why are you seeing another person when you are married?' To which the man replied, 'Don't worry about it pastor because the other person I am seeing is a Christian too. We prayed about it and we have a peace about it. So I am divorcing my wife!'

Hogwash! If there was a 'peace about it' deception that people use, it has been in breaking a marriage when they are a Christian. God will never give peace to go against His own Word. This type of peace is worldly peace that is very deceptive. I need to be aware of this type of peace because it can deceive terribly in all areas of life.

When I was doing biblical counseling for two students, both of them had different approaches to their struggle with homosexuality.

One of the students shared what a struggle he was having not giving into his homosexual desires. What was amazing is he told me, 'Ramesh, no matter how much I struggle with the desires, I have never given in because of my love for Jesus. Please pray for me Ramesh'. This student was dependent on Jesus but was open enough to share his struggles.

Another student however shared that God had made him that way. He thought of himself as a Christian and shared with me that he had no problem giving into homosexual desires because if God did not want him to engage in it, he would not have made him that way. He went as far as sharing that King David and Jonathan, the son of King Saul were in a homosexual relationship too! Hogwash! Utter Hogwash! Sadly, he was of the mindset that 'he has a peace about it' and need not change his ways! How sad! The sad thing is when I hear about ministers condoning homosexuality. Hogwash!

"Yet I am not surprised! Satan can change himself into an angel of light, so it is no wonder his servants can do it too, and seem like godly ministers. (2 Corinthians 11:14-15, TLB)

That said, friend if you are struggling with homsexuality, you are never out of Jesus' love, you are never out of Jesus' reach, He loves you so much and wants to be there for you. He wants to give you the peace only He can give. It wont be easy to overcome these struggles, but thanks be to God, you are not alone. You are loved, you are cared for. Rest in Him!

Jesus said, 'Peace, I leave to you! The peace I give is not like the peace the world gives, so don't be troubled or afraid!' (John 14:27)

The peace the Lord gives will be a peace received because what I have learned, received, heard, and seen from God's Word is put into practice in all areas of my life whether it is in marriage, voting, career, etc. Thank you Jesus! He can give you His peace so that is Scripture based.

I ask you now dear friend, how do you know your P.E.A.C.E is real?
Dear friend, if you get your peace from doing things of the world, it will soon crumble and there will be confusion and no peace of mind because that is the type of peace the world promises but if you get your peace from putting into practice what you have have LEARNED from God's Word, RECEIVED from God's Word, HEARD from God's Word, and SEEN in God's Word, you will receive the peace of Christ in your life. That is the best peace to receive.

Don't ever be deceived into thinking the kind of peace you have to do something is from the Lord just because you have prayed about it if it goes against God's Word. God will never ask you to do something wrong but Satan will and tries to come as light but it will only turn to darkness.

"When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed." (James 1:13-14, NIV)

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? “I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve." (Jeremiah 17:9-10, NIV)

Friend, the Lord will guide you and lead you when you turn to His Word and test everything by the power of God's Word as you put it into practice.

"I will instruct you, says the Lord, along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch your progress!" (Psalm 32:8, NIV)

Yes, friend! When you are looking for peace to do something, let that peace be from God's Word alone for He will give it to you. Wait on the Lord! If you don't know the Lord Jesus, He wants to give you peace only He can. His peace will keep your heart at rest as your trust in Him in all areas of life. To trust in Him means acknowledging what a sinner you are who is in need of a Savior. Jesus wants to be your Savior for He shed His blood on the cross to redeem you so when you follow Him making Him the Lord of your life, you can have peace. May you receive His peace now and forever more as your yield to Him.

It does not matter who you are, how long you have been away from the Lord, or where you are. Jesus loves you so much and waits for you. Come friend as you are and receive His peace for He is the Prince of Peace.

"May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21, NIV)

"Peace Enters As Christ Enters!" (P.E.A.C.E)/"How do you know your P.E.A.C.E is real?"

PRAYER:
Dear Jesus, I love you so much.  Thank you Jesus for dying for our sins so that we can have Eternal Life when we turn to you. Your blood was shed for us for our freedom. Thank you for coming back to life to save us. Thank you Jesus for being our Commander in Chief and for the orders you have given for our own good. Help us please Jesus to put into practice what we have learned, received, heard, and seen in Your Word so we can have the peace that you give us. Thank you so much Jesus. We thank you that your peace can be with us no matter what we face as we yield to you. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name We Pray Jesus! Amen!

You are my all in all. You are my Prince of Peace, Rock, Savior, and Friend. You are my Holy Father guiding me through to live a life of righteousness, holy righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I need to feel your hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround me so that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh God you love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you. When I seek your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you Jesus so much for your help no matter what I face, your grace is available and you take my case. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN! (Most of the prayer is from a vineyard song called “All in All”)

May the Lord Jesus guide you in His love leading you! Amen!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His grace alone!
