SCRIPTURE:
"As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them." (Mark 1:29-31, NIV)

Observations/Interpretation:
I asked myself what is the CAPABILITY of Jesus?
1. Jesus was capable of going to the home of Simon and Andrew with James and John after they left the synagogue to have fellowship with them.
2. Jesus was capable of people trusting in Him enough to confide in Him such as when the 4 of them told Jesus about Simon's mother-in-law.
3. Jesus was capable of going to Simon's mother-in-law, taking her by the hand and helping her up.
4. Jesus was capable of healing Simon's mother-in-law who had a fever to the point that she is able to wait on six of them :)

I asked myself what is the COMMITMENT of Jesus?
1. Jesus was committed to having fellowship with 4 of the disciples at the home of Simon and Andrew after they left the synagogue.
2. Jesus was committed to healing Simon's mother-in-law.

I asked myself who is Jesus in the COMPANY of?
1. Jesus is in the company of James, John, Simon, Simon's wife, and Simon's mother-in-law.

Interpretation:

I asked myself the significance of Jesus going with James and John to Simon and Andrew's place?

It is interesting that after teaching at the synagogue and healing a person there, Jesus decides to spend time at one of the disciple's homes. It was also a time to attend to the needs of Simon when his mother-in-law was sick with a high fever. The importance of community is emphasized here. You could call it today an after-church activity that builds more unity and bonding.

Implications:
I saw important implications for my own life here. By looking at this passage, I see that Jesus was emphasizing the importance of being in community and fellowship together as an after church activity. Not only that but after service, if there is a need I see Jesus attending to those needs outside the synagogue at Simon and Andrew's place when Simon's mother-in-law was sick with a high fever. Jesus went to their place to have wonderful fellowship with them by serving first and not expecting to be served. Jesus' healing was so powerful that Simon's mother-in-law got up from the high fever and waited on them. It takes time to prepare a lunch so what it tells me is the awesome time they had in fellowship with each other.

I need to make an effort to have fellowship after the church service instead of zooming out. So my precious wife Chandraleela, our precious daughters Esther, Evangeline and I deliberately make an effort to stay to have fellowship after church service. Unfortunately, with COVID-19 it is different now.

What I miss a lot is what Pastor Ed used to do after church service when he invited the whole congregation to his place to hang out and bond with other brothers and sisters. We would spend time with each other playing games, talking, etc. It built more bonding among us. I have such wonderful memories from those days. Thank you Pastor Ed. Hopefully, we can try that one of these days at our place after church. I love what our church does after service when we have a lunch time so brothers and sisters can hang out and spend time with each other, granted it is not the same as hanging out in a person's home like Jesus did :)

We also dearly miss the times we got to hang out at Danilo, Lidia, and Maria's place to have a time of fellowship and bonding while we played Sequence, Rummikub, talked, and ate homemade Brazillian food before the COVID-19.

Just as Jesus helped Simon's mother-in-law after synagogue service, Chandraleela and I are so thankful to Dan who has come over to our place almost every Sunday to help us move boxes to storage. With his help, we moved so many boxes. Almost every Sunday, he has helped us out. Thank you Dan. During the drive, we talk about different things. It is a time of brief fellowship too!

I ask you now dear friend, how is your F.E.L.L.O.W.S.H.I.P after a church service?
Dear friend, if you just leave the church after the service is over, you are missing out. I learned from Jesus the importance of fellowship and bonding. This can be a reality in our life too. After preaching in the synagogue and healing, Jesus did not just go His own way but took the time to take two of His disciples to the home of Simon and Andrew to have fellowship. We can do the same by staying at our church after the service is over to have a fellowship time or go out with people after service is over to have fellowship time. It can happen friend. Don't miss out on fellowship for fellowship builds stronger community. Not only that but if possible look for ways you can serve one another after church service is over to build community and bonding through fellowship.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you so much for setting an awesome example for us. When the service was over where you taught in the synagogue and healed a man possessed with an evil spirit, you went with James and John to Simon & Andrew's place to have a time of fellowship and bonding. When Simon's mother-in-law was sick with a high fever, when they came to you for help, you healed her completely and gave her strength again that she could wait on all of you. There were six people she waited on. Thank you for coming to serve and thank you for being willing to be served too. I thank you for those in our lives that have served us and those we have opportunity to serve even after church service. In this day of COVID-19, please help us to continue to have fellowship and bonding with each other. Thank you for those that help. Hear our prayer and answer us. Thank you we can always turn to you. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Lord Jesus, You are my all in all. You are my Prince of Peace, Rock, Savior, and Friend. You are my Holy Father guiding me through to live a life of righteousness, Holy righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I need to feel your hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround me so that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh God you love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you. When I seek your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you Jesus so much for your help no matter what I face, your grace is available and you take my case. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN! (Most of the prayer is from a vineyard song called �All in All�)

May the Lord Jesus guide you in His love leading you! Amen!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don�t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His grace alone!
