"Fans faithfully fostered for Steeler’s sensational quarterback near Mercy"

By Ramesh C. Reddy
Pittsburgh Standard

Steelers nation went into a panic and many in Pittsburgh turned their TV sets away from watching the World Cup match between the USA and Czech-Republic to find out details about Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who was injured in a serious motorcycle accident. Fans gathered across the emergency area of Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh show their support for Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger was not wearing a helmet, did not have a license, or learner’s permit.

“Ben, I hope you get better. We are all behind you, and that’s why we are here obviously. We are all behind you! Pull through! We will see you on the opening day of camp”, said Edward Emery, a die hard Steelers fan.

Pastor Maurice Trent of Lighthouse Cathedral Church on Fisher Street who stayed past 10:30 p.m. the day of the accident at Mercy gives his support to Roethlisberger from the Word of God.

“The promise that I would give him from God’s Word is the Bible says, ‘By His stripes we are healed.’ And that he can lean on his faith and know that whatever the doctors say whether it is doom or gloom, God has the last say so whatever the extent of his injuries, whether there is permanent damage and whether that damage will be permanent or not”, said Pastor Trent.

“I want Ben to pull through this. I am not going to mad [ if he can’t play football].  If he can still play football, I still want him to play football. I hope he pulls through. I still love him from the bottom of my heart, said James.

Sherry Williams, 39 who works in Youngstown, Ohio in a hospital shared her concerns.

“First of all there was initial shock and then the fear set in because being a medical care worker in a hospital, I have seen these kind of injuries. All my prayers go out to him”, said Williams
