“Menacing Military Grade Guns Ban By Curtailing Citizens Lively Liberties!”

As an Indian-born American citizen, what I am proud about India is that there are no mass shootings by ordinary citizens because it is very hard to own guns in India if you are not part of law enforcement or the military. Hence, unless they are terrorists who are funded with weapons, very rarely do you hear in the news about mass shootings or massacres. Anytime they do happen, it is attributed to terrorists who claim responsibility.

Sadly, that is not the case here in the United States where multiple assailants have had access to military-grade weapons and have gone on a killing spree. This has to stop and we have to be the voice to stop it.

As an independent voter, I urge my friends to fight for gun legislation that bars anyone except the military and law enforcement to own anything other than a handgun or a hunting rifle.


By allowing citizens to own a handgun or hunting rifle, we will still be following the Bill of Right’s Second Amendment which states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

It is beyond unthinkable that the United States is the only nation where people can own more than a handgun to protect themselves. A nation that prides itself with the beliefs held in the Preamble of the Declaration of Independence which states, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”, we have not lived up to its ideal.

How can you have life when military grade weapons are used for mass shootings and there is no safety?

How can you have liberty to move around freely when there is fear of being gunned down in a churches, synagogues, schools, cinema theaters, shopping malls, clubs, bars, etc with military grade weapons without being safe?

How can you have the pursuit of Happiness, when there is grief around you for the mass shootings of other human beings and there is no safety?

The sad thing is we have the most liberty in America compared to many nations and yet our liberty comes with the price of unthinkable deaths. That is just plain wrong!

Politicians need to do the right thing whether Independent, Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, etc by taking military grade weapons of the street and from the citizens hands. There is no reason that regular citizens should have access to these weapons.

These mass shootings are getting out of hand and can be semi-prevented with the proper legislation instead of being a prisoner to the National Rifle Association.

I call upon Pres. Trump and his administration to take serious action regarding military-grade guns being accessible to the general public. Trump has been my favorite president after Pres. Reagan because of many of the promises of his platform that he has kept. If there is a nickname that can be given to this president, it is PromiseKeeper.

One of the things Trump campaigned on was to ‘Drain the Swamp’ and ‘Having no loyalties to any party, lobbying group, or politicians’.

Please Mr. President, keep this promise too and don’t be suckered in by the NRA. We can have strict gun control laws and still not violate the Second Amendment to the constitution. Let us do that!

How many more have to die before we enact stricter legislation?

Did we have to wait until 9-11 happened to enact the ‘The Patriot Act’?

We need to be willing to curtail our liberties for the sake of our fellow men and women to live.

What use is having all the liberty you want if it ends in death and there is no safety?

In the previous article, “Mainstream Media’s Maliciousness Towards Trump’s Tweets Reigniting Racist Ramblings!”  I shared multiple examples of my encounters with law enforcement, etc being profiled as a Middle Eastern person if it meant others could live in safety.

Safety of our fellow men and women should be more important to us than our liberties being curtailed such as being profiled, stereotyped, etc. I am okay with being profiled and stereotyped by law enforcement if it means the safety of those around me.

Are you?

As much as politicians and the media like to play the blame game and blame Trump and the Republicans for these killings because of Trump’s so called rhetoric and Republican’s laxness for stricter gun control legislation, let us not forget about the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

If anything, they are to blame for a lot of stuff that happens too because they want to be at the forefront of liberty more than safety. Safety should be more paramount than liberty. That means citizens should lose liberties of even owning guns if their background gives us suspicion. It is better to be safe than sorry. It also means people should not have the fear of stopping someone fearing a lawsuit.

Will you rather have people’s deaths on your conscience or people thinking negatively about you because you are okay with profiling and stereotyping for the sake of safety?

So, if a skinhead were to walk into a mall wearing Nazi swaztika’s, etc, I would have no problem if the police targeted that person even if it was found that he was totally innocent.

Let us care more about safety than liberty.

It is time for people’s gun rights to be curtailed without violating the Second Amendment and not being afraid of being called a racist, profiling, stereotyping, etc if it can ensure the safety of others.

Only when we think of ourselves will we be upset about curtailed liberties even if it means safety to others.

Let us be willing to give up our rights so the rights of others can flourish. It is time to rest in peace these mass shootings and ban assault rifles, military grade weapons, etc.

We will not eliminate all killings but we will reduce them substantially. Human nature and heart has the propensity for unimaginable evil and it will not stop without the Lord’s intervention! We need to however do our part!
