Wanting Almighty's Intervention Today! (W.A.I.T)

Ramesh C. Reddy
Publisher

SCRIPTURE:
“But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 1:20, NIV)

APPROACH QUESTION:
What decision did you make hastily and what was the result?

OBSERVATIONS:
I asked myself what does 'But after he had considered this,' refer to?
It refers to Joseph making a decision to not to want to expose Mary to public disgrace but having it in mind to divorce her quietly.

OBSERVATIONS:
I asked myself what 'cause-effect' relationship do I see in vs. 20?
Because Joseph considered to divorce Mary quietly without wanting to expose Mary to public disgrace, the effect is
'an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.'

INTERPRETATION:
I asked myself the significance of the cause-effect relationship in vs. 20?
The significance is enormous considering that Joseph did not act hastily to make a decision but decided to wait without rushing into a decision. The effect was that he was able to sleep on his decision and was revealed a correct decision to make in a dream. This would not have happened if he had acted hastily in a situation that he saw negative.

IMPLICATIONS:
I asked myself what implications does Joseph's actions have for my own life?
The purpose of today's study was for me to understand the benefit of carefully considering a decision to be made in a conflict without acting in haste for when we do that, the Lord can reveal the right decision through different means so our decision does not make waste. If Joseph acted in haste then he would have divorced Mary but he did not act in haste and the Lord intervened in his life through a dream.
I learned that I need to wait in faith on the Lord so haste does not make waste. I know the Lord Jesus can intervene in my own life too through different means when I wait upon Him.  He can intervene in your life too!

I ask you now dear friend why W.A.I.T through conflict in life?

Dear friend, There was a time, an employee of mine was on the brink of stealing. I suspected that he was going to put something in his locker without paying for it when he ran to his locker with something in his hand. I called him into my office at which point he slowly discarded the item into the thrash can thinking I did not see. I told him we will talk later. As I had time to consider what action to take, I mentioned it casually to my mom when she was on the phone. The Lord used my mommy to say, 'Be merciful in your actions'. When I had shared the conflict with my sweet wife, her response was similar to my mom. Instead of using the word merciful, she told me to forgive him and give him another chance since it was his first infraction of stealing a small piece of food. I still had to consider the decision and hope I made the right one.

Anyway, when I met with the employee, I told the employee 'he did not have to bother coming in tomorrow'. He asked me 'why?'. I asked him, 'why don't you tell me?'. At that point, his face became red and he was very repentant asking for my forgiveness stating that would never happen again.

I told him, I could have fired you on the spot but I am going to be merciful and let you keep your job. However, I cannot have you bring your own lock anymore but we will provide the lock for your locker. He happily agreed because he could keep his job. He told me how sorry he was.  If I had acted hastily and sent him home on the spot, justice would have been served too but as I considered the decision, I felt this was a merciful decision. The employee knew that I was a Christian so this decision to have kept him would have impacted him more instead of firing him.

When we do wait, our Lord and Savior can help us through the conflict by revealing the correct decision that should be made.  It does not necessarily have to be revealed in a dream but the Lord Jesus can reveal it to you through His Word, or through His Spirit or His community which will not contradict His Word.  In my case, it was through His Word, through my mom and wife. It is not enough just to know but we have to act on it. Then we will know that we have been influenced positively by the Lord and the decision we make would have been a decision not acted in haste but without waste because we decided to wait in faith.

Joseph's wait to consider the decision to be made in a negative conflict gave him what the correct decision should be as opposed to if he had acted hastily on impulse or anger. An hasty decision would have hurt Joseph, Mary, and all those around them. Our hasty decisions in conflict can not only hurt us but those around us.

When we are upset it can be easy to retaliate because we are sinful beings but that should not be an excuse for you nor I to retaliate. This Christmas season we can be the ones to show love even through a conflict whether it is family based, friends based, employee/employer based, etc by considering what the right decision should be instead of acting in anger and impulse. This is a lesson I wish I had learned and applied multiple times even in my marriage with my loving sweetheart Chandraleela.

When we do consider what decision to make in a negative conflict seeking the Lord earnestly, it is amazing what the Lord can do. There are always positive and negative ways to handle a conflict especially when we are hurt. With the Lord's help, we can choose the positive way.

Friend, I don't know what conflict you are going through right now if any but if you are, don't rush into judgment thinking you have to act right away. No, friend sit back and consider your options. Think about all the pros and cons of a decision but especially what God's Word has to say about the decision you have to make. When you do that you will experience His peace knowing that the result you get is blessed by the Lord. Also, when you take time you may even fall asleep and when you wake up, you could know what to do because you got a dream, got a Word from the Lord, heard something from a community of believers, etc. But remember, it has to be tested with God's Word because whatever decision you need to make will not contradict His Word.

Even before I studied this verse, an important verse from Isaiah 40:31 came to my mind that says, "Those that wait upon the Lord will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not be weary; they will walk and not faint"

But for me it starts with the Lord Jesus Christ. When I take Him as my Lord and Personal Savior and walk in His path, He will lead me and guide me to make wise decisions remembering 'a wise man controls his tongue; he knows anger causes mistakes' (Proverbs 14) For that to happen, I need to realize my own shortcomings and failures knowing that is why Jesus came. Jesus came to redeem me from my sin and shortcomings by shedding His precious blood on the Cross of Calvary to save me and give me new life when I accept His free gift of grace poured out upon humanity. Jesus loves me so much that He will do that for me because He is alive and has the power to transform lives as He came back to life on the third day to save and sent His Holy Spirit into the hearts of those who call upon His Name. You too can experience that wanting Almighty's intervention today! That is what I am aiming for.

Wait in faith upon the Lord for He promises you that you will mount up with wings as eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint. In other words, the Lord Jesus will bring you through the conflict you are in. Wait upon Him and do not give up.

May you wait upon the Lord Jesus Christ wanting Almighty's intervention today!

"Wanting Almighty's Intervention Today! (W.A.I.T)"/"Why W.A.I.T through conflict in life?"

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you so much for revealing how Joseph reacted to a situation without acting in haste. He considered his options and did not move into judgment hastily. In the process, an angel of the Lord revealed to him in a dream what correct decision to make. Oh Lord, help us please not to act in haste knowing it makes waste but to wait in faith knowing Almighty's intervention today. For that to happen, we need to constantly be focused on you Oh Lord instead of our problems that we wait upon you. Help me to do that Lord for I struggle in this area. Thanks so much Jesus. Thank you when we wait in faith regarding decisions in conflicts too, you will reveal the answer through your Word, through your Spirit, and through the Community of believers, your body, the Church and we can know it is from you when it does not contradict Your Word. Thanks so much Jesus. I pray for the one right now who is in deep distress because of the circumstances of their lives especially a conflict they are going through. Oh Lord, their flesh is telling them to act hastily and prematurely but I pray Oh Lord that you give them your wisdom to wait in faith upon you to get the correct decision. Thanks so much Jesus. I pray this for me too. Thank you that we can turn to you and talk to you knowing you are there for us loving us so much. Thanks for being our Lord and Personal Savior when we accept you into our heart and ask you to lead us and guide us. Thank you for dying on the cross of Calvary to save us as you shed your precious cleansing blood to purify us and coming back on the third day to give us Eternal Life forever by your grace as we accept your grace. I do Oh Lord. Thank you for being born to save humanity as we reflect on this Christmas season. Help us to wait on thee always. Thank you for hearing my prayers and answering me. In Your precious Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Lord Jesus, You are my all in all. You are my Prince of Peace, Rock, Savior, and Friend. You are my Holy Father guiding me through to live a life of righteousness, holy righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I need to feel your hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround me so that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh God you love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you. When I seek your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you Jesus so much for your help no matter what I face, your grace is available and you take my case. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN! (Most of the prayer is from a vineyard song called “All in All”)

If you would like to invite Jesus Christ into your heart and make Him a daily part of your life, you can this very moment. You will never be alone. You can claim God's promises for you in the Bible and see them come true, before your eyes, in His wonderful timing. You don't have to wait for a special time to come to the Lord. You can come right now as you pray the prayer below, meaning it in your heart.

Prayer:
God I am a sinner. I am invaded by this deadliest virus. Many times I feel so guilty and yucky inside. I need forgiveness. I am so sorry for my sins. I have not obeyed you with my whole heart! I have gone my own way and done my own things. I  struggle with sin. I need you Jesus in my life so I can receive forgiveness and a new beginning. In the process, I can forgive others as you help me to. Thank you so much Jesus. I accept the antidote you have sent me. I believe Jesus you died for me and your cleansing blood will cleanse me from all my sins. You came back to life to save me. Thank you God I am set free, free from the bondage of sin. Hear my cry Oh Lord. I accept you Jesus into my heart. I make you my Lord and Personal Savior of my life. Thank you Father God for giving me Salvation. Thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and making my heart your home. Thank you for living in me Jesus and I will live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. Thank you for being my Lord and personal Savior! I can live a life of peace with you on my side. Thank you that you have heard my prayer and answered me! In your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help!

No matter who you are, it is not ever too late to join a Bible-believing church or a college fellowship. I highly encourage each of you to come to Transformers Small Group on Friday nights at 7:00 p.m. and Oakland International Fellowship on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. for prayer, 11:30 a.m. for worship, 10:30 a.m. for Sunday School, and 12:30 p.m. for fellowship lunch.

May the Lord's presence and peace fill you with His love now and forever! Amen!

Friend, if you have prayed this prayer and meant it in your heart, you are a new creation in Christ and all old things are passed away and everything has become new! You may feel something or may not but don’t base it on feelings but base your new life in Christ on the promises of our Savior who will never leave you nor forsake you! Amen!
