Always Christ's Care Offers Us Nurturing Truth!" (A.C.C.O.U.N.T)

Ramesh C. Reddy

SCRIPTURE:
"Jesus then told him sternly, "Go and be examined immediately by the Jewish priest. Don't stop to speak to anyone along the way. Take along the offering prescribed by Moses for a leper who is healed, so that everyone will have proof that you are well again" (Mark 1:43-44, NIV)

Observations:
What capability of Jesus do I see?
1. Jesus is capable of speaking sternly.
2. Jesus is capable of giving commands.
3. Jesus is capable of putting Scripture to practice.

Observations:
I asked myself what are the commands Jesus gave the man and how?
Jesus gave the man couple of commandments sternly:

1. Go and be examined immediately by the Jewish priest.
2. Don't stop to speak to anyone along the way.
3. Take the offering prescribed by Moses for a leper who is healed.

Observations/Interpretations:

I asked myself the significance of each point?

Point 1: Go and be examined immediately by the Jewish priest.

I see Jesus being obedient to Scripture and telling the man who was healed from leprosy to take along the offering prescribed by Moses. This is very relevant in that Jesus wants the man to follow what we consider to be part of the Old Testament (Leviticus 14).

When we become Christians, we cannot ignore reading the Old Testament because we feel we are under the New Covenant. The Old Testament is Scripture and God uses His entire Word to speak to us. It is important to realize that if Jesus said something in the New Testament that should take precedent though.

The leper would have been seen as unclean by all those around him unless the priest examined him so Jesus tells him to be examined immediately by the Jewish priest. There is not supposed to be any delay at all. The Jewish priest was supposed to give the verdict of how he was and how he is now.

Jesus was emphasizing the importance of focusing on the spiritual aspect of the man's condition after he had an encounter with Jesus. His encounter with Jesus changed him physically making him clean but also by going to the priest, the priest would have verbally declared him clean.

IMPLICATIONS:
I saw important implications for my own life. When the Lord Jesus delivers me out a bad situation that others are familiar about, I should not keep it to myself but thank the Lord first and foremost and then share it with the pastor so the pastor can examine my life and see where I was and where the Lord Jesus has brought me through. The emphasis and credit still will go to the Lord. When the Jewish priest would have examined the leper, he would have known that a miracle happened because of how he was and how he is now if the leper went to him as Jesus commanded.

It is never easy to share with anyone our negative qualities or weaknesses but it should be a time of joy and thanksgiving when we have been delivered of a weakness that others know about that our pastor, etc have been praying for us. When the change happens as we are examined the credit will go to the Lord as the pastor confirms so and so had this weakness but by the grace of the Lord has overcome it.

I ask you now dear friend, what area of weakness do you need a pastor/priest to A.C.C.O.U.N.T for in your life?

Dear friend, some of my brothers and sisters in Christ with whom my loving wife Chandraleela shared know that one of my weaknesses that she hates is my short-temper. She prays and prays that I overcome it. It made me feel bad that others knew about it too but then I realized it is best they know about it so they can hold me accountable. So, I have asked prayer of Pastor Josh, Rodney, Pastor Bucknell, David, etc

Granted this weakness of short temper is not a physical ailment like leprosy that can be seen at first and gone the next but  the effects of it can be seen when it is there and unseen when it is not there. Our life can be a daily examination by others. We have been married for a little over 10 years now and the love keeps growing but my short-temper causes pain :( My precious wife says that is the main issue she has with me in our marriage. My prayer is that the Lord would just take that away but I have to realize that short-temper could be an effect of a root cause of seeing things not going my way so I react :( That is not how it should be.

As the Lord works in me, I know especially my wife, children, and others will notice a difference. The credit will go to the Lord because of His work in my life through the prayers of my wife, pastors, brothers and sisters. There is no point to an examination without knowing what we are being examined for. The man who had leprosy was told to go to the Jewish priest to be examined so the priest can declare him clean from leprosy. Once that declaration occurs, the credit goes to Jesus, the Great High Priest who brought the healing. In the same way, when the pastor shares with permission so and so congregation member had this weakness he/she has overcome, the credit will go to Jesus. The whole command of examination is a call for accountability instead of going our own way. The Jewish priest was to account for the man's life that he had leprosy and was healed to become clean.

Friend, when others know about your weaknesses unless a person in authority like a pastor, etc says this person was in my congregation and had so and so but now by the grace of the Lord is healed, it is not perceived the same way. When healing is proclaimed, the Lord Jesus gets the credit. But more than any earthly pastor, we have One who we should go to who can account for our life and examine us. He is a High Priest we can go to and His Name is Jesus. We need Jesus to examine our lives and to give an account for our life on how we are living it. He knows our before and after condition to which He can boldly say that we have been delivered when we come to Him. As we are examined of our life by Father God we can be confident that He will find us not guilty but clean when we have the Blood of Christ cleansing us of all our shortcomings. Yes, friend that can happen so you and I should want Jesus to account for our life before the Father. As we turn to Him, He will work in us and through us to sanctify us daily bringing us to Him helping us slowly overcome our weakness! Praise the Lord.

To reiterate, I learned when the Lord Jesus delivers me out a bad situation that others are familiar about, I should not keep it to myself but thank the Lord first and foremost and then share it with the pastor so the pastor can examine my life and see where I was and where the Lord Jesus has brought me through.

"Always Christ's Care Offers Us Nurturing Truth!" (A.C.C.O.U.N.T)/"What area of weakness do you need a pastor/priest to A.C.C.O.U.N.T for in your life?"

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, when you healed the man with leprosy you wanted him to go immediately to be examined by the Jewish priest so he can declare him clean. Oh Lord Jesus, thank you for healing the man with leprosy. Oh Lord you know the weaknesses of ours that others are familiar with. Only your touch in our lives can help us overcome that weakness as you reach out your hand with compassion and touch us in our weaknesses to be healed. Please heal us Lord for we know you always offer nurturing truth. Thank you Jesus for giving accountability partners. Oh Lord we love you and need you so much. Thank you so much for your help. Come Lord Jesus and please examine my life. I acknowledge you as my Lord and Personal Savior. Please come into my heart and make my heart your home so you can make me what I need to be. Thank you for dying for my sin as you cover me in your precious Blood. I am new again because of you. Thank you Jesus. Guide me and lead me Oh Lord. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Lord Jesus, You are my all in all. You are my Prince of Peace, Rock, Savior, and Friend. You are my Holy Father guiding me through to live a life of righteousness, holy righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I need to feel your hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround me so that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh God you love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you. When I seek your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you Jesus so much for your help no matter what I face, your grace is available and you take my case. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN! (Most of the prayer is from a vineyard song called “All in All”)

May the Lord Jesus guide you in His love leading you! Amen!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His grace alone!
