“Love Trumps Hate Promoting President 2020!”

Ramesh C. Reddy

Who do you hate in life to the point that your body just cringes when you hear their name, see their face, listen to them talk, or read about their actions?

Why do you hate them so much and what is your response because of that hatred poisoning your heart?

Sadly, as an Evangelical Christian, I am ashamed to say that only one person in the whole world elicited an emotional response to the above question.

I would cringe when I heard the name of our former Pres. Barrack Obama, see his face, listen to him talk, or read about his actions.

His presidency was an assault on the holocaust of the unborn, disgrace to the definition of marriage between a man and a woman when his administration promoted the repeal of ‘Defense of Marriage Act’, asked schools to adopt a trans-gendered bathroom policy, promoted Anti-Israel sentiment, allowed ISIS to slaughter thousands of Christians, allowed assault on religious freedom for Christians, passed forced ObamaCare, put activist judges in power, used the FBI and DOJ to spy against Trump over Hillary, signed a nuclear deal with Iran, and made America look weak in the eyes of the world.

For all the talk about immigration, as India celebrates it’s Independence Day on Aug 15, 2019, it makes me so happy that the mastermind behind the Mumbai attacks of 2008 was arrested after Trump administration offered a 10 million dollar reward.

What did Obama do for 8 years while in office for Indians like us?

As an Indian, ask yourself if your prospect of coming to the United States was hindered with Trump in office?

Most of it is rhetoric. Trump is for legal immigration.

Personally, during Obama’s administration, it became very difficult for my precious wife Chandraleela to come to the states even after marriage. She had to wait almost 1.5 years to get here because of USCIS rules. Not only that, under his administration, the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) was the worst too when they detained my wife’s cousin in the airport for hours without counsel and deported him back that same night even though he did no wrong. Of all places, it happened in California when presidential candidate Kamala Harris was Attorney General. Yet, you won’t hear all that in the mainstream media. The mainstream media even tried to keep it hush that his administration deported 3 million illegal immigrants.

I came to believe that Obama is one of the worst presidents in U.S history. I still believe that! It has nothing to do with his skin color but everything to do with what he stood for and promoted that I do not agree with.

People think just because I am an Indian-American, my allegiance should be to the Democratic party just as people are shocked when any Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, etc vote against the Democratic Party. If you are Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, etc the Democratic party thinks they own you and will automatically get your vote.

Will you allow that?

For starters, as an Independent, I have no allegiance to any party but policies that I agree with.

Hating became a part of me because I could not stand Obama’s policies. When I spoke his name, I was so flustered. I knew I was going against the teachings of my Lord and Personal Savior Jesus Christ, when I was filled with hatred. Hate should not be a part of us! I was reminded by Jesus:

“If anyone says “I love God,” but keeps on hating his brother, he is a liar; for if he doesn’t love his brother who is right there in front of him, how can he love God whom he has never seen? And God himself has said that one must love not only God but his brother too.” (1 John 4:20-21, TLB)

It is easy to reason, how can God expect me to love so and so, when they are so unloveable and just make me cringe?

My Lord would not have that as an excuse from me.

The Lord Jesus said, “Do you think you deserve credit for merely loving those who love you? Even the godless do that! And if you do good only to those who do you good—is that so wonderful? Even sinners do that much! And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, what good is that? Even the most wicked will lend to their own kind for full return! “Love your enemies! Do good to them! Lend to them! And don’t be concerned about the fact that they won’t repay. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as sons of God: for he is kind to the unthankful and to those who are very wicked. “Try to show as much compassion as your Father does. “Never criticize or condemn—or it will all come back on you. Go easy on others; then they will do the same for you.” (Luke 6:32-37, TLB)

“Never pay back evil for evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honest clear through. Don’t quarrel with anyone. Be at peace with everyone, just as much as possible. Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God, for he has said that he will repay those who deserve it. Don’t take the law into your own hands. Instead, feed your enemy if he is hungry. If he is thirsty give him something to drink and you will be “heaping coals of fire on his head.” In other words, he will feel ashamed of himself for what he has done to you. Don’t let evil get the upper hand, but conquer evil by doing good.” (Romans 12:17-21, TLB)

It is a choice to love instead of hate. It is a choice to pray instead of curse. Whatever Obama has done does not give me an excuse to hate.

You must be wondering why I am writing about my struggle of hating Obama?

As an Evangelical Christian, what gives me the right to write about love without seeing the hate in my own heart and repenting of it before an all forgiving Lord. Sorry Lord Jesus! If I see Obama face to face, I need to say sorry to him too.

I will be a hypocrite to speak on love and have hate in my heart. Jesus clearly reminded me of that!

“And why quibble about the speck in someone else’s eye—his little fault —when a board is in your own? How can you think of saying to him, ‘Brother, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the board in yours? Hypocrite! First get rid of the board, and then perhaps you can see well enough to deal with his speck!” (Luke 6:41-42, TLB)

Speaking out against a president or candidate is not the same as hating them. We can speak out without showing hate. Because of how I have felt towards Obama, I can understand the hatred many people have towards Pres. Donald Trump even though it is not right just as it was not right of me to hate Obama.

The irony in all this is people who want to call out Trump for his hatred and divisiveness using slogans such as ‘Love Trumps Hate’ and ‘Love is Stronger than Hate’ are the same people that are hating Trump. For all those that they believe Trump hates, they pass these slogans but then they go right along hating Trump. This should not be!

For me hate is very impatient and unkind, always jealous or envious, always boastful or proud, always haughty or selfish or rude. Hate demands its own way. It is irritable and touchy. It holds grudges and will always notice when others do it wrong. It is always glad about injustice and saddens whenever truth wins out. If you hate someone, you will always be disloyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always disbelieve in him, always expect the worst of him and always stand your ground in prosecuting him.

Do any of these characteristics describe your feelings towards anyone?

If so, what characteristics describe your feelings towards that person?

Do any of these characteristics describe Pres. Trump or the mainstream media?

If so, what should our response be?

Our response should be a response of love.

“Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable and touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8, TLB)

Will you be willing to vote for a loving person who is for abortion on demand, same-sex marriage, transgender bathroom policy, anti-Israel, activist justices, curbing religious freedom, socialism, open-borders, and illegal immigration?

Or

Will you be willing to vote for a hateful person who is Pro-Life for the sanctity of the Unborn, against Same-Sex marriage, against transgender bathroom policy, Pro-Israel, constitutional justices, religious freedom, capitalism, closed-borders, and legal immigration?

For me the choice is clear and I would vote for the second person even though the world may see this person as a hateful person. Of all issues, the murder of the unborn is paramount to me.

For me love for the unborn trumps hate for the unborn; for me love for Israel trumps hate for Israel; for me love for constitutional justices trumps hate for constitutional justices; for me love for religious freedom trumps hate for religious freedom, etc.

Even at a young age, I told myself as an Evangelical Christian that I would even vote for a presidential candidate who is racist towards me as long as they were Pro-Life, Pro-Israel, for Defense of Marriage Act, and for constitutional justices, etc.

Those are the most important issues for me in comparison to all the other issues. That is why for all the rhetoric and hateful things Trump has said or tweeted, I intend to still vote for him. For me, Trump is the lesser of two evils.

It comes down to what issue is most important to you when you vote!

Don’t let the media or other people villify you into thinking you are making a mistake, if you vote for Trump. You are not if the issues issues presented above starting with being Pro-Life for the unborn, etc define you.

That said, if there is a candidate that challenges Trump who has the same platform as Trump but is loving rather than hateful, I would definitely vote against Trump because of his rhetoric.

No one will deny that his rhetoric is hateful, divisive, and counter-productive. But, as an Independent voter, the Democrats have not given me a candidate, I can proudly support nor have the Republicans put a challenger against Trump who has Trump’s policies without the baggage.

If you are an Evangelical Christian, don’t let people try to guilt shame you into voting against Trump if saving the unborn is paramount to you, if being Pro-Israel by actions is paramount to you, if being Pro-DOMA is paramount to you, if anti-transgender bathroom policy is paramount to you, if religious freedom is paramount to you, if capitalism is paramount to you, if the right Supreme Ct Justices is paramount to you, and closed borders and legal immigration is paramount to you. These are the issues that are paramount to me is why I am supporting Trump in 2020, not because of his personality.

If you are not an Evangelical Christian, you need to ask yourself if those same issues are paramount to you. If they are, you should not be ashamed to vote for Trump as the lesser of evils.

To my Black, Asian, and Hispanic friends, for too long the Democratic party has promised you so many things but has not shown it in actions. If anything, they demonize the Republican party when speaking to you and taking you for granted. In essence, they are pandering to your vote. There is a reason that I am Independent so I can vote for either party based on issues. Don’t let any party deceive you into thinking they are for you just by their words. Look at their actions and see who has delivered for you and who has not. If they have not delivered for you, even if you are Black, Asian, and Hispanic, you can vote against them. Delivered for you means issues that you care for! If you are a Black, Asian, or Hispanic who is Pro-Life, the Democratic party has not delivered for you.

If you are Black, Asian, Hispanic, etc, the Democratic party will only be for you if you fit into their mold. If you don’t they could care less about your skin color. They won’t even come to your rescue. When a Black woman wrote against homosexuality and got fired from her job, Democrats did not come to her rescue. When a Black elementary girl spoke out against a LGBT curriculum and was suspended, Democrats did not come to her rescue. Democrats want to use our color to pander to us. Let us stop it now. They don’t care about us if we have Biblical conservative views and don’t fit into their mold.

Last time, I voted for a Democratic candidate was when Bob Casey Sr was running for governor of Pennsylvania because he was Pro-Life. No one is going to pander for my vote without showing me what they have done or will do. Don’t let them do that to you too.

Regardless of who we vote for, love should rule. Our society has become so toxic that if people believe someone is a Trump supporter, they are automatically demonized and labeled all names. That is not right! It is easier to judge than understand why someone would vote for a person like Trump. People have different reasons and mine are based on the Bible for voting for Trump. People like me are hot-button issue voters. I will not be silenced by labeling me or outing me for being a Trump policy supporter. Neither should you!
