What we are remembered for tells people the kind of life we lived. If we lived our lives to please only ourselves then people will remember us for how selfish we have been. But, if we lived our lives for others, they will remember us for the difference we made in the time we had here on earth.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4, NIV)

A person’s age does not matter whether they are 20 or 80. A 20-year old can be remembered for their kindness and love for others than an 80-year old if the 20-year old lived to put smiles on peoples’ faces but the 80-year old lived to put a smile for self!

There was a 20-year old who loved life and who would live it for others. He delivered kindness, happiness, and love to those who knew him. Whether you heard him being talked about by his fraternity brothers or by food service employees that served him, they all had only positive things to remember him by! I am talking about Dennis Muttu who sadly passed away little over 10 days ago while playing a game of touch football.

Life can be too short! We need to pray hard! We need to pray that death will never conquer anybody to become the end! Death is not a friend of anybody and when it comes it hurts a lot of people. The Good News is that it does not have to end with death here on earth. There can be life after with Jesus Christ. Loved ones who pass from this earth can be reunited with Christ in Heaven if they know Christ.

When we remember someone such as Dennis Muttu or anyone who passed from this life but left a legacy behind, we need to make sure their legacy continues and lives on.

We need to ask ourselves every night before we sleep, 'What will people remember me for?'

If the answers that come to us are self-based then we have lived for only ourselves but if our answers that come to us are others-based, then we have lived for others to make a difference in their lives.

May we live our lives to bring Jesus Christ glory so in the process we will be serving others more than self!

Jesus said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; he has appointed me to preach Good News to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted and to announce that captives shall be released and the blind shall see, that the downtrodden shall be freed from their oppressors, and that God is ready to give blessings to all who come to Him (Luke 4:18-19, TLB)

Where will you be friend when you leave this earth?

Can you know for sure where you will be?

You have a golden opportunity to start this New Year 2007 with the Lord on your side. Let me assure you, the transformation you will see in your own life. When Christ touches the hearts of those who come to Him, there life will never be the same again, never never. You will have a totally new perspective on life as you spend daily time with Him praying and reading the Bible and being part of a church that believes the entire Bible is the Word of God. Even as you face the storms of life, the winds cannot shake you for you will have a firm foundation on the Rock, Jesus Christ. You will know who you will be with when that day comes!

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." (Matthew 7:24-25, NIV)

Come to Jesus as you are this New Year and let Him be the Lord of your life. No matter what happened all the other years put it aside and start this year with the Lord on your side.

If you already know the Lord Jesus, rededicate your life to Him this New Year giving yourself to Him and asking Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit and lead you in His wisdom. He will my friend for the power of His love is so amazing! You can pray the prayer below to as a rededication prayer.

You do not have to have all the answers to come to Him but can come to Him as you are. Yes, you can friend! When I came to the Lord I did not have all the answers I wanted to know but I came to the Lord in faith and through the years He has never disappointed me. It has been 21 years that the Lord Jesus has been in my life and I want Him to be part of my life till I die and then that day see Him in Heaven face to face! That is exciting friend, yes it is!

May you come to know the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Personal Savior!

If you would like to invite Jesus Christ into your heart and make Him a daily part of your life, you can this very moment. You will never be alone. You can claim God's promises for you in the Bible and see them come true, before your eyes, in His wonderful timing. You don't have to wait for a special time to come to the Lord. You can come right now as you pray this prayer, meaning it in your heart.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, I am a sinner Lord. I am so sorry for my sins. I confess my sins to you. I confess the wrong things I have done and messed up my own life. I need you Lord right now and in the years to come. I have gone my own way and have not found what only you can give me. You alone have the words of Eternal Life. You alone love me unconditionally for who I am. Thank you Jesus. Please forgive me for all the things I have done that have dishonored you. I am sorry Jesus. I thank you that you died for my sin to save me. Thank you that your cleansing precious blood can cover over me and give me new life. I want this new life Jesus and accept this life you give me. I now accept you into my heart. Please be part of all areas of my life. Thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and being part of my life. Thank you for forgiving me of all my sins. Thank you for giving me a new identity in you. I acknowledge you as my Lord and Personal Savior as I believe in my heart that you died and came back to life to save me now and forever. I give myself to you and ask you to be in control of my life. Thank you Jesus for the coming year we can do things together. Fill me with the Holy Spirit! Thank you Jesus for being my Lord and Personal Savior. Thank you Jesus you have heard my prayer and answered me. Thank you Jesus for changing me and helping me through life's storms and winds. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Word of God! I have found the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark to be very helpful! It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches Christ crucified and risen to bring us hope, healing, and help! As a student, it is not too late to join a fellowship on campus too this coming new year! May the Lord's presence and peace fill you with His love this Christmas season now and forever! Amen!
