“Almighty Delivers Valiantly, Awesomely Nurturing Christ's Evangelism! (A.D.V.A.N.C.E)

Ramesh C. Reddy
Publisher

SCRIPTURE:
“Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel." (Philippians 1:12)

Observation:
I asked myself what cause-effect relationship do I see here?
BeCAUSE of what has happened to Paul, the EFFECT is that it has really served to advance the Gospel.

Interpretation:
I asked myself what is the significance of the cause-effect relationship here?
When Paul mentions about himself:
'what has happened to me', he is actually rejoicing in the Lord, encouraging himself, and the Philippians not to feel bad for him.  It is really hard for the Philippians to think anything good can come out of this and Paul understands that so he uses the expression: 'really served to advance the Gospel'. He is basically letting the Philippians know though he is in jail, it is still a time for joy because the Gospel can be advanced.

Implications:
I asked myself what are the implications for my own life?
Whatever happens to me because I love the Lord and am serving Him, I should be joyful as Paul was because when I am loving the Lord and serving Him, no matter what happens, it can help advance the Gospel. Thank you Jesus so much!

I ask you now dear friend, how can you A.D.V.A.N.C.E the Gospel?
Dear friend, our positive attitude towards the Lord and others around us is what will help advance the Gospel. Paul's attitude was focused on Christ even though He was in jail. Hence, because of His joy in Christ through the suffering and hardship, he is able to confidently say that his prison time is actually helping to advance the Gospel. In the same way, no matter what is happening around you, if you keep your focus on the Lord Jesus and depend on Him, even you can advance the Gospel.

This is what my mommy experienced when she was in the ICU with my beloved Dad who is with the Lord now. Everyday, my mommy would be by my daddy's side and read the Psalms and New Testament to my daddy. Her dependence and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ affected those that attended to my daddy. A Hindu resident even wrote in her report about the faith my mommy and her family has in the Lord Jesus Christ. My mommy's faith was unwavering and it helped advance the Gospel when the Hindu person wrote about Jesus. Thank you Lord for that opportunity.

So whatever is happening to you, remember when your focus is on the Lord, you will be making an impact for His Kingdom's sake by shining out your light as Paul did as he encouraged the Philippians. You too can become an instrument for the Lord Jesus to use to advance the Gospel.

The purpose of today's devotional is to realize that whatever happens to us will help advance the Gospel if our mind is focused on our Lord Jesus Christ as we make Him known by our actions and words!

May the Lord Jesus use you to advance the Gospel for His honor and glory! Amen!

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you so much for teaching me about your servant Paul. Thanks so much Jesus that he is able to encourage the Philippians even though he is in jail by telling them what has happened to him has served to advance the Gospel so they should be happy. Oh Lord he is joyful even though locked up in prison because his focus is on you to be known by you and make you known. Oh Lord because of his positive attitude and living his life for you, serving you, he knows the Gospel will be advanced. Thanks so much Jesus. Lord Jesus, please help me have that kind of attitude to serve you in joy. Help my life to be used to advance the Gospel for your honor and glory. Forgive our sins and help us Lord not to be selfish and only think of ourselves. Help our goal to be to advance the Gospel always. Thanks so much Jesus. Help us to shine out our light! In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

May the Lord Jesus guide you in His love leading you! Amen!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His grace alone!
