SCRIPTURE:

Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.� (Mark 3:20, NIV)

Observations:
I asked myself whose company was Jesus in the presence of?
1. Crowd
2. Disciples

I asked myself what action involves Jesus?
Jesus entered a house after appointing the twelve disciples to be with Him.
Jesus was not even able to eat.

I asked myself what action involves the crowd?
After Jesus entered a house, again a crowd gathered!

I asked myself what action involves the disciples?
They were at the house with Jesus.
They were not even able to eat.

Interpretation:
I asked myself the significance of the phrase �again a crowd gathered�?
I found it so interesting when Jesus had entered the house after choosing the twelve disciples, again a crowd gathered. The crowd is so attracted to Jesus to gather around Him to the point that He and His disciples were not even able to eat. That is how much desire the crowd had to be near Jesus. This is not a one time thing because the key word for me is 'again a crowd gathered'. Whatever Jesus is doing, Jesus is making an impact in people's lives that they do not want to avoid Him so they gather around Him.

Implications:
I saw important implications for my own life. I need to live my life in such a way that first and foremost, my precious wife Chandraleela and my sweet daughters Esther and Evangeline would want to gather around me instead of wanting to avoid me. I need to be able to offer something of value that will become an asset in their lives instead of being a liability to them. Not only that but I should live my life in such a way that those that are not family members too would be comfortable to gather around me. But more than that, I need to gather around Jesus daily because He wants me to spend time with Him in prayer and His Word so that I can be equipped, empowered, and enabled to do Evangelism His way making an impact in the lives of those around me. Unless I am filled by the Holy Spirit and draw my nourishment from the Lord, I cannot be a vessel to be used of the Lord to make an impact. On the contrary, I can become a liability to the point people want to avoid me. I don't want that. You should not want that too. We should never put ourselves in a position to hear, "I never want to be around that person" especially because we do things that are not pleasing to the Lord.

The crowd always gathered around Jesus whenever they saw Him because Jesus made an impact in their lives! Jesus is willing to make an impact in our lives too if we are faithful, available, compatible and teachable to the lessons He wants us to learn. I love this acronym that Pastor Hugo taught me years ago calling it a F.A.C.T check in our lives. People are more comfortable to gather around us when we are faithful, available, compatible, and teachable instead of being unfaithful, unavailable, uncompatible, and unteachable.

In His grace and mercy, even when I am faithless, He is so faithful. That is awesome to know! I need to depend on the Lord to be a person that others are attracted too so I can be a fisherman for the souls of men and women by the Lord's leading.

I ask you now dear friend, how will people G.A.T.H.E.R around you in life?
Dear friend, people will gather around you in life when they know you have something to offer that will benefit them and be a blessing in their life. In essence, if you are someone who can impact a person's life, they would want to gather around you. On the contrary, if your presence only gives people pain and anger, they will do their best to avoid you. Being avoided because you are not following the ways of Jesus is not anything to be proud of but ashamed of. On the contrary, if you are following the ways of Jesus but are being avoided, it is okay. Jesus even reminded His disciples that people will hate them and that is nothing to be surprised of because if they hated Jesus, they would hate His disciples too. But this type of hatred is because, Jesus promoted righteousness that certain people could not stand. If we are hated and avoided for doing right then that is okay but our spouses, children, etc should never avoid us because we live our lives in such a way that is contary to Scripture. To live Scripturally, we need the Lord's help daily to be a hearer of the Word and a doer of the Word. That could mean practice, practice, practice.

I was sharing with Chandraleela, Rodney, Suzanne, Jenny, and Fred that I finished listening to the book 'Grace Based Parenting' by Tim Kimmel at least 9 times. That is how much I love listening to this book so I could put into practice what I have learned in all the chapters to make an impact in my kid's lives. I am so glad that Pastor Hugo recently recommended that book to me. It is a book that every parent needs to read or listen too. If the principles in the book are applied, children would actually desire to gather around their parents instead of avoiding them. My daughter Esther's favorite time is called, "What's your beef?" time. This is a time that she can share whatever issues she has with me without me defending myself but just listening to her. Once she is done sharing, she is so happy. This book in addition to finishing the book 'Parenting' by Paul Tripp recommended by Pastor Josh, Pastor Mike, and Jeanne have helped me so much. I am so thankful. Every parent should read or listen to both of these books so their gathering around their children can be a pleasant experience. My favorite part from this book is that raising a family is God's calling too and we are stewards of our children because they actually belong to God, the Author of Life. :)

We can gather in so many places but not all places we choose to gather are good for the heart, mind, body, and soul. But there is a place that will always be good for us and it is at the feet of Jesus. We can gather at church to let the Lord speak to us through His servants. We can gather at home in our private seclusion to spend time with Jesus as we hear from Him and learn from Him. Where the crowds gathered impacted their lives and where we gather can impact our lives too. The question is whether the impact is a good impact or a bad impact!

Our family is so grateful to Pastor Jesse and Emily for letting us know about a Vacation Bible School to which they take our kids to. Our kids gather around other kids and learn about Jesus each morning this week. I have never seen Esther and Evangeline so excited after going to it yesterday, anticipating today and the rest of the week. What a blessing to teach children about Jesus and then see the children share with parents about Jesus and God's Word.

Jesus wants you to gather near Him friend so He can make a good impact in your lives! Yes, He does! No matter what you have done or where you have been, you are never out of His love, never out of His reach.

Gather around Jesus and most of all gather at the foot of the cross where there is healing and redemption. Christ came to take away the sin of the world and we can gather at the cross to be forgiven of our sin by His precious cleansing blood. I thank the Lord for the opportunity. He will take us from the bondage of sin and death as we turn to Him for He alone can rescue us.

Friend, as you gather around Jesus especially in prayer and His Word, He will direct you and lead you. When you gather around Jesus, others will love to gather around you because you will be giving them the Word of life from the Life-Giver. That is how people will gather around you in life. Thank you Jesus!

Dear Jesus, thank you so much for this time. Thank you for the impact you make in people�s lives that at the sound of your Name people have gathered. When they see you, they gather around you. You are such a positive influence Jesus. I want to be a positive influence for those around me where you place me at. Please help me Jesus. May what I do bring you honor and glory and help me rest in you! Thank you Jesus! This is how people will gather around us so we can lead them to you. Help us please Jesus! Thank you Jesus for dying for our sin and coming back to life to save us because of your love for us! We are so sorry for our sin and ask you to please forgive us our sin. Cleanse us with your cleansing blood and we will be clean again. Wash us and we will be whiter than snow. Thank you Jesus for the new life you give us. Come into our heart Jesus and make our heart your home. Live in us Jesus and help us to live for you and serve you the rest of the days of our lives. Thank you Jesus! Help us as we live for you and go out into the world to bring you honor and glory by our actions. Thank you for being our Lord and Personal Savior! Thank you Jesus you have heard us and answered us. No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don�t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His grace alone!
