"People triumphantly trumpeted towards thirty-one"

Ramesh C. Reddy
Pittsburgh Standard

Thursday, May 03, 2007

People triumphantly trumpeted towards thirty-one, overcoming observable occupation of outlet to obtain offerings of frozen flavors for a fee! The fee only cost $0.31 for any 2.5 oz scoop of ice-cream flavored food on a Wednesday evening of May 02, 07 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at Baskin-Robbins in Squirrel Hill located on Forbes & Murray! All across the nation every Baskin-Robbins store was charging the same in solidarity.

The lines at the Baskin-Robbins in Squirrel Hill located on Forbes & Murray could be seen past the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh as people from all walks of life patiently waited in line sometimes for more than ½ hour to experience any thirty-one flavors for 31 cents.

Four hard-working employees patiently and cheerfully served each customer patiently no matter how many cups of flavors were being ordered while the owner of the store handled crowd control to ensure fire-safety regulations were being followed and the patrons received discounted coupons for future Baskin-Robbins endeavors. They gave excellent customer service by waiting on patrons even a little after 10:00 p.m.

Adrian Ciganic and his friends from Pittsburgh Regional International Student Ministries (PRISM) had just come from Rose Tea Café but could not resist standing in line for Baskin-Robbins fruity flavors. Around 9:30 p.m. they were finally at the entrance door to experience the delicious deserts. Patrons from other ministries were in line too whether it was members of Oakland International Fellowship congregation located on North Dithridge St. or members of Seeds of Hope Ministries located in Bloomfield.

It was not just members of ministries that were attracted to the ice-cream extravaganza but students from college campuses too. Four students were excited to reach the entrance of Baskin-Robbins after enduring through the lines.

As patrons entered the ice-cream parlor, they could receive any flavors in a cup or cone to eat there or take out. I decided to take out 31-flavors of Baskin-Robbins ice cream. All the flavors I ate were delicious.

Firefighters were on hand to thank Baskin Robbins for all their support for fallen firefighters and their families.

According to the brochure given by Baskin Robbins, “The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honors America’s fallen fire heroes by sharing how they lived and what they meant for their loved ones, their communities, and our nation.”

Baskin-Robbins is thrilled to support this worthy cause and in appreciation of every patron that buys at Baskin Robbins, a donation of $100,000 will be made by Baskin-Robbins to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. You can learn more about the foundation by visiting their website at www.FireHero.org

What you are about to see now is a slide show of the 31-flavors that I got at Baskin-Robbins but these are not the only flavors offered.
