“Endorsing the Engaging Eight for SGB Elections 2006"

Ramesh C.Reddy
Pittsburgh Standard

Tuesday, November 14, 2006

Editors Note: Eight candidates will make board but you can only vote for five at my.pitt.edu between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Our ranking shows you who we believe should get the top 5 votes and our endorsements show who we believe will be the ideal 8 board members to represent you.

The endorsement for SGB President goes to Shady Henien of INTEGRITY Slate: “Pitt News wants you to believe Shady Henien is the wrong guy for SGB President, but we don't" (Nov 13, 06, 2:26 p.m.)

Our first endorsement for board goes to Sumter Link of INTEGRITY slate

Link wants to focus on having organizational unity, ResLife improvements, and giving students a fall break.  Of all the issues it is nice to know he is thinking about students who would love have a Fall Break. This is an excellent idea and a feasible one as Link will work with Dean of students, Dr. Humphrey to try to make it a reality. With his leadership experience in different organizations, he proudly gets our first endorsement for board.

Our second endorsement for board goes to Bianca Gresco of INTEGRITY slate

Gresco wants to make sure you there is enhancement of COMMUNICATION, ACCESSIBILITY, STUDENT SAFETY, CITY LIFE NIGHT ACTIVITIES, and how PRINT QUOTAS are established. These are feasible ideas and ideas that will benefit all students. With her leadership experience in different organizations, she proudly gets 2nd endorsement for board.

Our third endorsement for board goes to John Allen of UNITY slate
Allen wants to create a mentorship program for undergraduates who are planning to go to grad school by pairing them up with graduate students in the same field. This is an superb idea and he proudly gets our 3rd endorsement for board.

Our fourth endorsement for board goes to Karen Park of UNITY slate

Park wants to focus on unity, enhancing academia, and health/fitness for the betterment of our students and we believe if elected she would be a voice for the students with a servant-leadership attitude. She proudly gets 4th endorsement for board.

Our fifth endorsement for board goes to Jodie Smith of UNITY slate

Smith wants to work on Freshman/Sophomore leadership programming which is an excellent idea. She also is interested in caring for the needs of commuter status students. She proudly gets our 5th endorsement for board.

Our sixth endorsement for board goes to Jeanace Slifka of DEDICATION slate

Slifka will continue to work with the food committee to meet the needs and concerns of students. We believe she will be a bridge between Sodexho and the SGB to help students get what they want. She proudly gets our 6th endorsement for board.

Our seventh endorsement for board goes to James Priestas of DEDICATION slate

Priestas has had experience in SGB and will be dedicated to meeting the needs and concerns of students. She proudly gets our 7th endorsement for board.

Our eight endorsement for board goes to Eva Grunberg of NEW ERA slate
Grunberg will serve the students well with her campus experience and she will make a good board member. She proudly gets our 8th endorsement for board.
