Greek life gives gifts of giving to help fight cancer! On a Friday night
of March 31, 2006 while many people go out to have a good time, the
University of Pittsburgh Fraternity and Sorority life put on a
fundraiser to continue to raise money for the University of Pittsburgh
Cancer Institute. Greek Sing 2006 brought hundreds of students to watch
the fraternities and sororities perform with music, dance, and
choreography.
At the end of the event, the amount of money raised was added to the
money raised throughout the semester and equaled $119,000 to help fight
cancer.
A lot of stereotypes exist for fraternities and sororities but they also
do a lot of good. Chris Meaner, the Greek advisor has worked hard and
continues to work hard to diffuse those stereotypes and make Greek Life
a positive feeling on campus. The Cathedral Awards of Excellence reward
sororities and fraternities for different aspects of campus life
including academics.
Watch the Greek Sing 2006 performances in low resolution except the top
3 finishes which will be in high resolution! Each
sorority teamed up with a fraternity to perform at Greek Sing 2006. The
money will be used to improve the Pittsburgh Standard!
