On the evening of Sat, June 28, 2008 the Pennsylvania Governor's
School of International Studies 2008 class took part in an unexpected
hunger banquet led by their director Dr. Melissa Reed and their
Residential Teaching Assistants. The awareness event was held at the
Cathedral of Learning Cafe run by Sodexo management from 5:45 p.m. -
7:45 p.m.
The hunger banquet was divided into three types of groups: The upper
class, the middle class, and the lower class.
At the conclusion of the banquet students were encouraged to find
ways to help the hungry. A student mentioned about the 30-hour famine
done by World Vision and Dr. Reed mentioned about Oxfam International
and their contributions to combat poverty and hunger.
