The anticipated wait was long and the sorority sisters were pacing nervously to find out who they would nurture and eventually who would become their little sisters to mentor them by caring, sharing, and praying for their well-being.

Around 9:30 p.m., when the Recruitment Counselors came in with the envelopes of conception, there were claps of jubilation because the conception of the babies into the world of different sororities was slowly becoming a reality.

The waiting room outside the WPU was growing bigger and bigger as the clock ticked. Soon, their would be shouts of joy and jubilation when they would welcome the new babies into their fold.

Soon, the babies would wear the color ribbons of the sorority they would be born into as a pledge class, identifying them with that sorority.

The time came when the envelopes were popped open and shout of joy prevailed in the lower lounge when each person found out what sorority they would be born into and who would become their sisters and sorority mom.

The sororities were excited to welcome the new babies into their fold. But mind you that they are all still new babies or new pledges. One day as they are nurtured and mentored in a caring and sharing way even as they are prayed for, one day they would be adopted into the sorority during initiation. That day is for another time.

This night they revel in joy for the new babies joining them, taking them from the hospital of the WPU into their homes at Amos Hall, the Bellefield House, and Bruce Hall. The pledges of Kappa Kappa Gamma traveled to the Bellefield House, the pledges of Theta Phi Alpha traveled to Bruce Hall, and the rest of the sorority pledges marched jubilantly and excitingly with their pledged sorority into Amos Hall.

The night started with nervousness and excitement and concluded with jubilation as the new babies were welcomed into the sorority fold.

 

Emotional nurturing will be done by their sorority sisters, friends, and family; spiritual nurturing can be done by the Lord Jehovah through His Word and a community of believers; academic nurturing can be done by the fine institution at the University of Pittsburgh, and nurturing of food for the babies can be provided by Market Central Dining which is open from 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. Mon - Thurs, 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Fri, 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sat, and 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. Sun.

Now these new babies will have to restructure their time so they do not miss out on any type of nurturing. If the babies are taken care of well there won’t be any need for Children Youth & Services Hazing Patrol to remove them from that sorority because of illegal infractions.

Sorority mom’s and sisters should protected their babies from being hazed, alcoholically poisoned at parties, taken advantage of, etc so the adoption of initiation into the sorority would be smooth and exciting.
