Word of Redeemer Delivers!” (W.O.R.D)

Ramesh C. Reddy

Editors Note: This is a devotional that has been revised and published again!

SCRIPTURE:

He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come." (Mark 4:26-29, NIV)

Observations:
I asked myself what are the tangible things I can see from this passage?
Man, seed, ground, night, day, soil, grain, stalk, head,  kernel, sickle, and harvest.

Interpretations:
I asked myself what is the function of man here?
A man scatters seed on the ground.

I asked myself what does it means that a man scatters seed on the ground?
I found it so interesting that earlier when Jesus explained the ‘Parable of the Sower’ to those who asked Him,  He told them that the ‘seed’ represents the Word of God. Now, Jesus is telling them that man scatters the Word of God on the ground. A synonym for scatter is spread so Jesus is telling them that man spreads the Word of God on the ground.

I asked myself what does Jesus say happens when man spreads the Word of God on the ground?
“Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.”

During the night when man sleeps, the Word of God sprouts and grows though he does not know how. During the day, when man gets up, the Word of God sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. That is so amazing and cool to know!

I asked myself what is the function of the soil?
“All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.”

I learned because the Word of God is spread, the soil produces grain-which I believe represents the children of God. This passage also shows the process of Christian maturity as the Word of God works in the people’s lives when the Word is spread in their lives. First, there is the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.

I asked myself why it is significant three things are mentioned: the stalk, the head, and the full kernel in the head?
I believe as the Word of God enters their lives, the stalk represents everyone starting out as baby Christians.

I believe as the Word of God continues in their lives, the head represents them become growing Christians.

I believe as the Word of God continues to take root in their lives, the full kernel in the head represents mature Christians.

I asked myself what happens to the grain?
“As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come."

I believe this is talking about gathering all the followers of Christ when Jesus comes back representing ‘the harvest has come.’ For that to happen, first the spreading of the Word of God must take place by human beings that the Lord entrusted the Word of God with to the entire world. The result would be the Word of God growing in people’s lives changing them and helping them to become mature Christians. When Jesus comes back and He gathers His own, it will become the Kingdom of God.

Implications:
I saw important implications for my own life. I realized the importance of having the Word of God in our lives to make a difference and spreading the Word of God to others as we spend time in the Word.

I ask you now dear friends, what do you do with the Word of God in life?
Dear friend, you have an awesome opportunity to spread the Word of God that we have through the Bible. You can stand on the Word of God and let it change people’s lives including your own. The Word of God has power and that is exciting to know. But, we need to take time to spend in the Word and let it work in us. We do not always know how it works in us, but it does and there is power in the Word of God.

This morning in my Quiet Times, on Friday, the 13th, I read Proverbs 13:13 and learned, "Despise God's Word and find yourself in trouble. Obey it and succeed."

The Word of God reveals man's separation from God and God's intervention in the human race to deliver man from his sin through the sending of Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, who went to the cross to pay the ransom for our sin so we do not have to be separated from God. All our good works are filthy rags to the Lord as the Word of God states. There is so much in the Word of God that when we believe and apply in our lives we will be transformed. The Word of God prompts us to Jesus Christ!

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life and that life was the Light of all mankind. The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it." (John 1:1-5, NIV)

"The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father full of grace and Truth." (John 1:14, NIV)

Jesus said, "I AM the Way and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him." (John 14:6-7, NIV)

[Jesus prayed], "Sanctify them by the Truth; your Word is Truth." (John 17:17, NIV)

"You Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path!" (Psalm 119:105, NIV)

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17, NIV)

Now when we believe in the Word of God and turn our lives over to Jesus Christ acknowledging we are a sinner, believing in our heart that Jesus is our Lord and Savior who went to the cross & came back to life to save us, and confessing with our mouth that Jesus will be Lord and Savior of our lives, we will be saved. For the Word of God to go out, it has to be spread into the lives of people so they can come to Jesus.

"The Word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justfied, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, "Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile---the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, "Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved. How, then can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring Good News!" (Romans 10:8-15, NIV)

Once the Word of God is sown, spread, scattered, it will not go void.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,  so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:8-11, NIV)

This is the power of the Word of God. You can claim the Word of God in your life and let it work in you and through you! This is exciting to know! I know it has in my life and continues to work! Amen! One of my favorite promises among others,  I have claimed has been from Psalm 50:15.

"I want you to trust in me in your times of trouble, says the Lord, so that I could rescue you and you can give me the glory!" (Psalm 50:15, TLB)

The purpose of today's study was jto understand the power of God's Word to impact a person's life from conception, birth, infancy, growth, and maturity.

May you let the Word of God work in you as you spend time with the Lord in His Word! Amen!

“Word Of Redeemer Delivers!”(W.O.R.D)/”What do you do with the Word of God in life?”

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank you so much for the power of your Word. Thank you Jesus for dying for my sin and coming back to life to save me! I am so sorry for my sins. Please forgive me and help me Lord! Thank you so much Jesus! Thank you that you hear and answer. Thank you that we have your Word with us. Help us not to take it lightly but spend with you. Thank you so much Jesus. Cleanse us with your cleansing blood and we will be clean again! Wash us Jesus and we will be whiter than snow! Thank you so much Jesus. Thank you for coming into my heart and making my heart your home. Thank you Jesus for living in me and help me to live for you please Jesus. Help us to have such a desire for your Word Oh Lord. Thank you that your Word works in our lives. Help us to spread your Word for others. Thank you so much Jesus. Thank you for being our Lord and Personal Savior! Thank you for hearing our prayer and answering us! In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Lord Jesus, You are my all in all. You are my Prince of Peace, Rock, Savior, and Friend. You are my Holy Father guiding me through to live a life of righteousness, holy righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I need to feel your hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround me so that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh God you love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you. When I seek your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you Jesus so much for your help no matter what I face, your grace is available and you take my case. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN! (Most of the prayer is from a vineyard song called “All in All”)

"May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to you, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer." (Psalm 19:14)

May the Lord Jesus guide you in His love leading you! Amen!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His grace alone!
