Students need to call their Senators to support the Federal Marriage Amendment!

The Senate is going to debate whether or not there should be a constitutional amendment on marriage. This amendment would make marriage between only a man and woman legal.  The Senate must be commended for taking this action to preserve the sanctity of marriage.

It is despicable that the activist Supreme Court of Massachusetts legalized gay marriage. It becomes more despicable when you have four appointed judges making an immoral decision for the nation. We cannot have activist judges changing the morality of the nation.

Some may say what is morality except what people make of it but I tell you to give me one major religion and its teachings that support marriage between people of the same-sex. I tell you that you will not find one. Throughout time, it has been known that men and women were made for each other to live unified as one.

Christians, Jews, and Muslims believe that God made Adam and Eve, and not Adam and Steve. These three religions alone do not support marriage between man and women but other religions do too!

Imagine if you have four appointed judges who profess to be atheists, what they could do to the nations religious rights by interpreting the Constitution with hostility. They are appointed for life and only the Supreme Court of the U.S can overturn their decisions. If those justices wanted to remove ‘God’ from U.S coins and from the Pledge, they very well could and have it challenged in the Supreme Ct.

The country cannot be worried about challenges to marriage bought by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and other hostile groups that are hell bent towards removing morality from America.

What better time to bring the marriage amendment debate to the forefront other than election year. This way depending on how the Senators vote, people who elected them can keep them accountable.

As students you can play a major role when it comes to the debate on the marriage amendment by contacting your Senator to let them know to vote for the marriage amendment.

If love is the only criteria for two people to marry then what’s to stop a 12-year old from wanting to marry an 18-yr old, multiple women from wanting to  marry the same man if the man agrees and so on!

There have been laws etched in the books for reasons but these activist justices and anti-Christian groups such as the ACLU want to overturn them.

The Senate will continue to debate the Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution on Monday and Tuesday with a goal to vote on it on Wednesday. The Senate needs at least 60 votes to bypass procedural delays and 67 of the 100 Senators to approve the constitutional amendment for marriage.

This means it cannot be approved without bipartisan support from our elected leaders. We who voted for our Senators should give them our view on this amendment. Those that want to watch the debate can watch it on C-SPAN2 starting Friday, July 09 and resuming on Monday, July 12 at 1:00 p.m. EST

Contact your Senator by email or phone.

Express your view
