I decided to look at statement 3 today:

Interpretations:
Why do you think Jesus told the disciples the people have nothing to eat?
I believe it is to make a point that Jesus cares not only for our spiritual nourishment but also our physical nourishment. Jesus knows the importance of spiritual and physical nourishment. Jesus was in the desert for 40 days and had nothing to eat and afterwards the angels came to attend to Him. As important as their spiritual nourishment is to Jesus, Jesus also wanted them to be healthy and eat well.

Implications:
I saw important implications for my own life. I learned that Jesus cares for my spiritual and physical well being. Jesus wants me to eat spiritual food given by Him through His Word, through the Spirit, and through the community of believers in line with His Word but also wants me to eat food that provides nourishment for my physical body. Jesus cares what I eat spiritually, physically, emotionally, psychologically, and mentally. That is wonderful to know based on the inference that Jesus cares for their spiritual well-being and physical well being.

I ask you now dear friends what do you eat in life?
Dear friend more than anything Jesus wants you to eat the spiritual food He provides for you through His Word but Jesus also cares for what you eat for your physical body. Jesus took care of the needs of those who were at a retreat with Jesus for 3-days and wants to take care of you too.

You can be sure that when you serve the Lord, your needs will be taken care of whether they are physical needs, spiritual needs, financial needs, etc. First and foremost you need to eat the Word of God in your life. The Word of God is sweeter than a honeycomb. It nourishes us spiritually more than we can even imagine. It is great to be nourished spiritually so we can defend ourselves against the attack of Satan who wants to keep us in bondage to sin.

When we eat of God's Word every facet of our life will be based on what God's Word says on issues that matter to God. This means politically too we will be influenced by the Word of God we eat.

So when a candidate espouses to be pro-choice, for gay marriages, for racism, etc and it goes against what God's Word speaks on those issues then we who digest God's Word can take a stand and say, "We will not give our vote to a person who does not mind the shedding of innocent blood because they are willing to nominate justices and provide federal fundings for abortion, etc"

We can take a stand and say, "We will not give our vote to a person who thinks they know better than God and want to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act because they do not think marriage should just be between a man and a woman as the Word of God states"

As we eat God's Word and digest it we will also come to see that no one is perfect and everyone has issues that we won't always agree with but we will get wisdom and discernment as believers in Christ to choose the right candidate that comes closer to the heart of God.

Who am I to know the mind of God but I believe there is a reason why RED STATES are mostly in the South because that area is the Bible-belt. Bible belt states emphasize the role of family values whether it is in being Pro-Life of the unborn or Pro-family as God meant it to be between a man and a woman.

Jesus likes to repeat Himself and it is possible that Jesus addressed those issues when Jesus was with the crowds three days.

Jesus made a point that the people had nothing to eat alluding to the fact that they will be hungry and their bodies will not function well. It is the same way with our Christian walk with the Lord.

The more we eat of God's Word and digest it, the more we will be keen to issues like plight of the unborn who cannot take care of themselves or defend themselves, the battle for family as God meant it to be between a man and a woman, etc.

Yes, there will always be many issues that we as followers of Christ must deal with but there comes a time that we have to base our vote on just these 2 issues and let the Lord handle the rest.

When God created Adam and Eve and the commandment He gave to them to be fruitful and multiply applies to both issues of abortion and homosexuality.

If woman have an abortion, they cannot be fruitful and multiply and if people marry those of the same sex, they cannot be fruitful and multiply so these 2 issues are more important to me than any other issue including the issues of racism, the issues of the poor, etc.

Anyway, what I eat in life from God's Word reminds me what Jesus said too:

When Judas made the statement that the woman who anointed Jesus with perfume was wasting all that money when it could have been used for the poor, Jesus' response was not, 'Yes, Judas you are right but the poor you will always have with you'.

This is not the say Jesus did not care for the poor because Jesus did. The poor are cared for so much that it is the poor that come to Jesus faster than the rich. It is the poor that eat of God's Word first and then they are also fed spiritually. It is not the job of government to take care of the poor but the job of churches to take care of the poor, etc.

But it is the job of government to ensure that God's laws are followed because when there is moral rot in a nation, it's people start to perish too. Leadership starts at the top so we cannot and should not have leaders who espouse that being in favor of abortion is ok, gay marriage is ok, etc.

When I eat of God's Word I cannot in good conscience vote for someone who willfully disobeys my daddy, Father God by saying abortion and homosexuality is ok.  When I do that I am giving that human being more allegiance and loyalty than to God.

Yes, no candidate is perfect but a Bible-believing Christian like me cannot vote for someone who is pro-choice and for homosexuality whether they are Republican, Democrat, Independent, etc.

I let what I eat from God's Word dictate who I vote for especially when it comes to moral issues. The issues of abortion and homosexuality are spoken against right from the beginning in the Book of Genesis when God addresses Adam and Eve. The issues of the plight of the poor is addressed later on.

Caring for the poor is definitely important and we should do that but for me as a follower of Christ, I will vote for someone who has a Pro-Life voting record, for the sanctity of marriage, and leave the other issues in the Lord's hands for wisdom in those.

How we vote comes down to what we eat spiritually from God's Word. How we survive comes down to what we eat physically. In both cases, God wants to be part of our lives and help us as God wanted to help the people at the retreat with Jesus.

More than anything you need to eat God's Word so you can understand that we live in a fallen world and only the Truth of the Gospel can save us. It starts with us knowing we are all sinners who cannot save ourselves but only Christ can save us and He provided that opportunity for us to be saved when He went to the cross and shed His precious cleansing blood, was buried, and rose on the 3rd day to give Eternal Life to all those that seek the Truth. Jesus would not have had to die if we could save ourselves from the bondage of sin but we cannot and so Jesus paid the price. That is exciting to know!

May you know what you eat tells people a lot about you!

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for making sure the people there with you were able to eat your Word for three days. Thank you Lord you also cared that they did not have an opportunity to eat food for their physical bodies and asked your disciples to get involved to ensure they are fed. You want us to eat your Word too and want us to eat food so we do not go hungry. Help us Oh Lord for the honor and glory of your Name to do what brings you honor and glory. Thank you so much Jesus! Lord please help us to use wisdom to vote for candidates and if we are voting just on 2 issues like I am and it is not in line with your will, please make it known to us through your Word. Thank you so much for addressing the issue of abortion and homosexuality especially gay marriage indirectly with Adam and Eve. You wanted them to be fruitful and multiply and that cannot happen when we support candidates who are for abortion and homosexuality. Oh Lord help us to eat your Word and always follow you! Thank you that you hear us and answer us! In Your Name I pray Jesus! Amen!!

Friend, if you have prayed this prayer and meant it in your heart, you are a new creation in Christ and all old things are passed away and everything has become new! You may feel something or may not but don’t base it on feelings but base your new life in Christ on the promises of our Savior who will never leave you nor forsake you! Amen!

Spend time in His word and let the Lord speak to you! Start out in the Gospel of John! You can also check out the Gospel of Mark which are the devotionals I have been going through.  Learn from Jesus through study and prayer. Also find yourself a church fellowship and a college fellowship you can be part of where you can be part of a community of believers to supplement your own walk with the Lord. Let it be a Bible-believing and Bible-breathing church! Believe in Bible Live Eternally!
