Editors Note: The devotional has a background song  which can be heard if you use Internet Explorer.

SCRIPTURE:
His disciples answered, "But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?  "How many loaves do you have?" Jesus asked. "Seven," they replied. He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people, and they did so. They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them."(Mark 8:4-7, NIV)

Observations:

I asked myself what were the actions of Jesus?
"How many loaves do you have?" Jesus asked.
Jesus told the crowd to sit down on the ground.
Jesus took the seven loaves of bread
Jesus gave thanks for the loaves of bread
Jesus broke them  gave them to his disciples to set before the people.
Jesus gave thanks for the fish as well
Jesus told the disciples to distribute them.

Interpretation:
I asked the significance of Jesus giving thanks for the bread and fish?
Jesus set an example to give thanks to Father God even for the littlest things. Seven loaves of bread and a few small fish were not much but Jesus gave thanks for both of them separately. Jesus acknowledged where they came from and only after giving thanks for the food did Jesus distribute them.

Implications:
I saw important implications for my own life. I need to thank the Lord Jesus even for the littlest things in life. I should not lump my thanksgiving into one statement but as Jesus did I need to be mindful of each individual thing the Lord Jesus has done in my life.

Reading this passage also reminded me of what Pastor Paul Bucknell spoke about this past Sunday at Oakland International Fellowship. Pastor Bucknell had exhorted the congregation not to make their thanksgiving and grace before each meal a ritualistic event but really mean it and be thankful for it, etc.

I ask you now dear friend, what are you thankful for in life?
Dear friend, many times we overlook the littlest things in our lives to be thankful for and sometimes even the bigger things but a heart of thanksgiving is a heart of gratitude. No matter where we are in life, each of us has many things to be thankful for.

Even if we have only little money, little food, small career, etc, whatever it is we should be thankful to the Lord for it. Jesus was thankful for seven loaves of bread and a few small fish and so should we even for the smaller things.

Few weeks ago, an entire block in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood lost electricity. At that point, my mom and I were talking that how much we take for granted. When we take things for granted that is when we are short of thanksgiving too. When the neighborhood did not have current, a lot of things could not be done and I realized that I have never been directly thankful to the Lord for the electricity because I took it for granted.

I realized any good thing that comes comes from the Lord and we all should be thankful for.  It is not just the good things we should be thankful for but even when things do not go well in our lives because even through that the Lord Jesus will be working through our lives.

The Word of God says, "Giving thanks in all circumstances, be joyful always! Pray without ceasing!"

Whatever circumstances we are faced with we have a Lord who loves us and cares for us. He is the Author of our Lives. Nothing happens to us without His knowledge. Some things that we worry about could be a result of our own sin and shortcomings but even then we should be thankful for Jesus for all He has done for us, is doing for us, and can do for us.

Recently, I have been having a lot of pain in both of my legs from the thigh down to my feet at different times. I do worry that it could be a complication of Diabetes which means I was never diagnosed with diabetes but I also worry about cancer. I don't know why I am having these pains suddenly but I thank the Lord for doctors and that Jesus is my Great Physician. He can heal me whatever I am going through if He chooses too through His Word, through the medicine He provides, through the wisdom He gives earthly doctors, etc.

Regardless, I should be thankful for the health the Lord Jesus has given me. We all have things to be thankful for. The one that does not have a thankful heart is the one that is so preoccupied with self and not focused on the Lord. I have done that and been guilty too.

I don't want to be sick but there are still areas in my life to be thankful for even for the sickness for our Lord can use any circumstance for His honor and glory. It is still not easy but I pray to the Lord for strength . I ask your prayers for me too!

You should always be thankful even for the littlest thing and not take anything for granted.

Most of all even if we have we have nothing to be thankful for which in itself is a lie and deception from Satan, we all should be thankful for Jesus who came for you and me to set us free from Satan and the bondage of sin.

Yes, friend while we were yet sinners, Jesus Christ died for us. When we were filthy with sin, Jesus took all that sin upon Himself on the cross to deliver you and me by His precious cleansing blood when we turn to Him.

Friend, Jesus waits for you even this day for you to come to Him if you have never given your life to Him. He paid the price to set you free, was buried, and on the third day came to save.

No matter where you have been, what you have done, you can be thankful for the One who came to save you by His grace. Salvation is not anything that can be earned by our good works but it is a gift of God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We are not saved because of all the good things we think we do or other people think we do. No friend, for God says there is no one good, not one for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Our good works are like filthy rags to the Lord unless the good works are a fruit of the Spirit because of Christ residing in us.

But God loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ into this world to die for our sin that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have Everlasting Life. How great is the love the Father has lavished upon us that we should be called His dear children!

Our Salvation is evident based on the fruit that is revealed in our lives. For me that fruit includes being an advocate for Pro-Life cause such as the plight of the unborn who cannot defend themselves, for Pro-family traditional issues such as the sanctity of marriage, the plight of the poor, etc

I am so thankful to the Lord Jesus that we have a U.S Senator who is running for president who values the life of the unborn and has a track record to prove it in the senate for his pro-life stances and also for his emphasis that California should adopt an amendment that marriage should be between a man and a woman. I wish every candidate running would make those two issues pertinent in their lives. I am also thankful that as a follower of Christ, that fruit can be seen by the actions and decisions he makes. Of course, he is human too and is not perfect but these two issues mean a lot to me and I am thankful as the Lord gives me the opportunity, I can vote for John McCain to be our next president.

More than anything, I am thankful that Jesus Christ saved me born originally into a Hindu family and Hindu generation. Now, by the Lord's grace and mercies all of our immediate family is saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus. My dad is with the Lord right now worshipping daily! Thank you Jesus. I did not choose Jesus but Jesus first chose me when He went to the cross to die for sinners like me too.

Jesus did that for you too! God desires that none should perish but all come to repentance.

May you be thankful for even the littlest things the Lord Jesus has done in your life and especially for the Salvation Jesus came to give.

"Thank Healing, Almighty, Nurturing King Forever Understanding Love!"(T.H.A.N.K.F.U.L)/"What are you T.H.A.N.K.F.U.L for in life?"

 Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for setting an example for me by being thankful for the seven loaves of bread and a few small fish. Help us Oh Lord to be thankful for the littlest things too and not take anything for granted. Oh Lord, we thank you for the Salvation you came to give. We are loved by you and your precious blood cleanses us of all sin. We turn our lives to thee and to the usage of your plan. Help us Oh Lord for the glory and honor of your Name. Please let your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. I love you Jesus. Thank you for hearing us and answering us! Thank you for saving me! IN YOUR NAME I PRAY JESUS! AMEN!

If you want Christ in your life, make this your prayer. Don’t let the enemy deceive you into thinking you need all the answers before coming to Christ. Let me just assure you though you may not have all the answers right now before coming to Jesus, He will answer them slowly. Yes, He will for I know our Redeemer will! Amen!

Prayer:
Jesus, I thank you for being the Bread of Life. You are the Living Bread of my life. Thank you for coming from Heaven and giving your life for the life of the world. You sacrificed yourself for humanity. Thank you Lord when we eat of you symbolically making you part of our life, digesting what you teach us by following you, we can be living Eternally, and the fruit that comes will reflect and resemble your life. I want that Father God. I want that Lord Jesus! I want that Holy Spirit! I know of a lot of people who partake of Holy Communion where the bread represents your body broken for their sin and the juice represents your blood shed for their sin. When we partake of Holy Communion, we are reminded that we are remembering you. I want to remember you always Lord Jesus. But for me to remember you always, I need to know you and acknowledge everything you said you are. So right now I acknowledge that you are my Lord and Personal Savior who died and rose again to give me life from sin. So right now, I come to you and say how sorry I am for my sin and living a life on my own. I repent of my sin and ask you to forgive me of my sin with your cleansing blood which I accept. Wash me and I will be clean from this infection of sin. Come Lord Jesus and please become part of my life as you live in me and I will live for you. I thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and making my heart your home. Thank you for living in me Jesus and I will live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. I do need your Spirit to reside in me and work in me and through me so I surrender all that I am and will be to you. Whatever your will is for me, please give me the strength and willingness to bear it and rejoice in you. Thank you so much Jesus. I thank you Jesus for becoming my Lord and Personal Savior. I thank you Jesus you have heard my prayer and have answered me. I thank you that I am your child Oh God. I thank you for becoming my only Way to Eternal Life. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Friend, if you have prayed this prayer and meant it in your heart, you are a new creation in Christ and all old things are passed away and everything has become new! You may feel something or may not but don’t base it on feelings but base your new life in Christ on the promises of our Savior who will never leave you nor forsake you! Amen!
