SCRIPTURE:"They discussed this with one another and said, "It is because we have no bread. Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?" "Twelve," they replied. "And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?" They answered, "Seven." He said to them, "Do you still not understand?" (Mark 8:16-21, NIV)

OBSERVATION:
I had asked myself what was Jesus' reaction to the disciples discussion?
Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them:

1. "Why are you talking about having no bread?
2. "Do you still not see or understand?"
3. "Are your hearts hardened?"
4. "Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear?"
5. "And don't you remember?"
6. "When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?"
7. "And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?"

INTERPRETATION:
I decided to look at question 5 today and asked myself, why did Jesus ask, "And don't you remember?"
It is because the disciples were discussing about having no bread. Jesus wanted to remind them and make them remember that it is not about the bread at all but who is with them that can take care of their problem. That is why Jesus brings to their attention the feeding of the 5000 & feeding of the 4000. The issue at hand Jesus wanted to beware of is wrong teaching as they remember who is with them and what He did for them and can still do.

IMPLICATIONS:
I saw important implications for my own life. Just as Jesus wanted the disciples to remember what Jesus did for them two different times when they lacked enough bread, Jesus wants me to remember what Jesus has already done for me in my life and can continue to do in my life. I should not look to the negative but to look to the positive. Jesus is with me and He claims to be the Bread of Life even now. I have the Bread of Life with me and need to remember if I have the Bread of Life, He will take care of the rest.

The key however is not to be so preoccupied with what I don't have but who I do have. I have Jesus with me and just as Jesus reminded the disciples of what He did for them, Jesus reminds me of what He did for me and can still do for me. In all this it is to make a point that there are more things important than what we think are important. Jesus warned the disciples about the 'yeast of the Pharisees and Herod' and that is what Jesus wanted them to be careful about and not worry about forgetting to bring bread.

I ask you now dear friend, what do you remember in life?
Dear friend, we have a tendency to remember the things that did not go well for us instead of what went well for us. It is human nature to be thinking about all the things that have gone wrong and sometimes continue to go wrong. That was the problem with the disciples when they were too focused on forgetting bread! When Jesus addressed 'watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and Herod', the disciples automatically assumed Jesus was addressing the bread issue.

Jesus had to remind them that was not the case. Jesus used the pronoun, 'I', twice to make them remember what Jesus already did when He fed the 5000 and 4000. It is also to remind us to focus on Him instead of the problems at hand and wrong teaching.

Just yesterday out of the blue I was asked of a request to comply by regarding PGSIS and the Pittsburgh Standard. It was a hard decision because I did not think what was being asked was right but I did comply. I complied because Jesus reminded me that more than anything He is more important and any means to ministering to others starts with Jesus. If I decided to go my own way and do things at the disapproval of others when it did not involve the Gospel then I have actually held on to things that are not as important as reaching out to others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

When the Gospel of Jesus Christ is at the focus then I am actually focusing on Christ and allowing Him to help me make decisions. It starts with remembering who Jesus is and what He has already done in people's lives and especially in my life.

That is what Jesus wants you to remember too regarding who Jesus is and what He has already done for you. More than anything Jesus has done for you, it is laying of His life for the sake of your life. Jesus wanted to save you so Jesus went to the cross so He could die for you and the antidote could be collected so it can wipe away the deadly virus. The antidote is the precious cleansing blood of the Lamb of God and the deadly virus is sin. Only Christ's antidote can free us from where we have been and where Christ wants us to be. I was a Hindu and I could not save myself but Christ came to save me and chose me to be His and only His first and foremost. Jesus died, was buried, and came back to life on the third day to save.

That means my allegiance belongs to Christ and His teachings and the issues of abortion and homosexuality have always been important to me next to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ having a Gospel centered message.

I was also reminded of the issues of being Pro-Life and being Pro-Marriage as God intended because it is holding on to God's ways and not politics.

When we are given the opportunity to vote I hope our vote is based on these issues than party lines. It does not matter whether one is Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, communist or socialist, etc because names and labels or not as important as the issues that are important to Father God. I do believe the Pro-Life and Pro-Marriage is very important to God as based on yesterday's sharing of Genesis 1 & 2.

I have always believed God can take care of the rest and will take care of the rest when we do our part in upholding the teachings of Christ. Yes, taking care of the poor is very important too.

When it comes to the poor, it is so easy to blame it on Republicans and that they are heartless, etc but statistics would show you that it is those who are Pro-Life and Pro-Marriage that have helped the poor more financially than all than those that are not. That is a startling statistic. It does make sense because when values are important taking care of the poor becomes essential too.

Also we need to remember how much money athletes make but no one cries foul about it. When people speak about Republicans being heartless, I am reminded of those people being like Judas Iscariot.

When a woman came to anoint Jesus with perfume, Judas Iscariot was very upset that the perfume was being used to anoint Jesus because he said that money could have been given to help the poor Jesus response to Him is very important because Jesus said, 'The poor you will always have with you....'.

This is not to say not to care for the poor but there are other issues that are more important too. When I think about that I think about those who cannot take care of themselves such as the unborn without our intervention. We can unsure the unborn are not a holocaust itself by electing leaders who are Pro-Life. Also, the Pro-Life/ Pro-Marriage has gone hand in hand for me so pray about it and ask the Lord to give you wisdom.

Don't use the poor as an excuse to vote for a candidate that you think will be for the poor but when you vote for a candidate that is Pro-Life/Pro-Marriage, the poor will be helped too.

When Jesus said, 'The poor you will always have with you' that is also a prophesy stating that the poor will not go away. Yes, Jesus wants us to care for the poor but not let the poor become our sole focus that we ignore issues such as Pro-Life and Pro-Marriage.

People should remember to help the poor instead of accusing certain leaders and asking to vote against them. Once again, look at national statistics and you will see that it is those with a family-value conservative background who are Pro-Life and against Gay Marriage that have contributed more to charity and helping of the poor than those with a liberal background who are many times Pro-Choice and for Gay Marriage, etc.

Is it not interesting to remember that when the poor become pregnant, Pro-Choice groups such as Planned Parenthood are all about getting them on the gurney so abortion clinics can perform abortions on them and take whatever money they have while Pro-Life groups help them with bringing the baby to term and caring for it.

There are important things to remember in life and our voting should never be done without consulting the Word of God and what the Lord would have us do. Our peace in a decision should be backed by the Word of God. It is never good to say that I am voting for so and so candidate and have a peace about it if the candidates views go against Scripture.

More than anything we need to remember we are sinners in need of grace and only Christ can save us from the sin that marred creation. Just remembering is not enough but we have to act on it.

May you remember who Jesus is what He wants to do for you than the things that have not gone right in your life. For when you have Jesus, you will have everything as you depend on the Lord and focus on Him.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I love you! Thank you for loving me so much and dying for my sin. Thanks for coming back to life to save me. You shed your precious cleansing blood for me to redeem me. Oh Lord, please help us to remember who you are and why you came. Help us to remember your teachings and vote for a candidate that is more in line with your teachings. Help us to remember how important Pro-Life issues and Marriage issues are to you. In Genesis 1 & 2, this is emphasized Oh Lord and I thank you for that. Help our focus to be on you Jesus and always bring things before you before we discuss with others. Oh Lord even when we do discuss with others without involving you, you in your mercy and love for us do intervene. Thank you so much Jesus. Thank you for hearing us and being there for us. Thanks for being our Redeemer everyday. Help me Oh Lord to remember what you want that I know is from your Word and do my part living my life for you. Thanks so much Jesus. Thank you for hearing us and answering us! In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Jesus has been working in my life to transform and change me. Jesus will do that for you too no matter where you are. So, please come to Him as you are and allow Him to work in your life and transform you. Pray this prayer to the Lord and mean it in your heart to be saved.

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you so much that you came for hardened hearts to soften them and transform them. I know Lord you continue to do that in my life. Thank you Lord I did not choose you first but you chose me when you came into this world to die for those around you and those that would be born so their wickedness can be taken away when they turn to you. You have provided so many ways for people to come to know you as their Lord and Personal Savior. I thank you Lord for that but you will not force yourself into our lives unless we open the door of our heart. You stand at the door and knock and since you are knocking we thank you that you have chosen us. Now Oh Lord help us to choose you always knowing you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through you. Thank you for working in my life and giving me an opportunity to come to you. Help me to always remember the price you paid to set me free and give me new life. You paid it with your own blood for me so my heart does not have to stay hardened. Oh Lord Jesus, God of our Salvation please help us so we do not get hardened. We know when we take our mind of you, it will happen. But we thank you too that when we came to you, you saved us for eternity and you who began a good work in us will continue to do that . Thank you that we always have your blood covering over us. When we go our own way and sin we do that because we do not focus on you but on ourselves. Thank you when we turn to you, you forgive us. We give our life to you and ask you to be Lord and Savior of our lives. Thank you Jesus! Please come into my heart and make my heart your home. Live in me Jesus and I will live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. Thank you Jesus for being my Lord and Personal Savior. Thank you Jesus you have heard my prayer and answered me. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!!

Friend, if you have prayed this prayer and meant it in your heart, you are a new creation in Christ and all old things are passed away and everything has become new! You may feel something or may not but don’t base it on feelings but base your new life in Christ on the promises of our Savior who will never leave you nor forsake you! Amen!
