Salvation Has A Restriction Everyday! (S.H.A.R.E)

Editors Note: The devotional has a background song  which can be heard if you use Internet Explorer.

SCRIPTURE:
"He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men." (Mark 8:31-33, NIV)

OBSERVATION:
I asked myself what can I learn about Jesus from this passage?
He then began to teach them after warning them not to tell anyone about who He is. The teaching consisted of 6 things:
1. The Son of Man must suffer many things.
2. The Son of Man must be rejected by the elders.
3. The Son of Man must be rejected by the chief priests.
4. The Son of Man must be rejected by the teachers of the law.
5. The Son of Man must be killed.
6. The Son of Man will rise again after three days.
7. Jesus spoke plainly about it.

INTERPRETATION:
I asked myself the significance of Jesus sharing these things with the disciples?
Jesus shared these things with the disciples because Jesus wanted to be open with them no matter how hard they take it. Jesus was not just about sharing the feel good things with His disciples but everything. Jesus did not sugar coat anything but spoke plainly about it. Jesus wanted them to know and be prepared what lies ahead for Him. Of course this prompted Peter to take Jesus aside and rebuke him.

(To be continued)

IMPLICATIONS:
I saw important implications for my own life that when I share about my life with others, I should not sugar coat it. Jesus was upfront and spoke plainly about Himself and what is going to happen to Him. I need to be upfront about my life with those I share, with the focus being on the things of God which I hope to dwell more closely some other day.

I ask you now dear friend, what do you share with others?
Dear friend, Jesus shared things the disciples did not want to hear but needed to hear. Jesus wanted to prepare the disciples of what was to come. Jesus did not sugar coat anything and neither should we. We need to be upfront with people what we share about whether it has to do with our own lives, the Gospel of Jesus, or even issues dealing with politics, etc.

I love sharing about my life with others especially if it is good but if an area of my life is not good or will not be good, I have a hesitancy to share. If I know certain things will not work out and it will be a negative outcome in my life, I don't like to share but share anyway with one of my mom and one of my pastors I feel the closest too for many years. I thank the Lord so much for this pastor in my life.

We need to be open to share positive and negative things in our lives with our closest confidants. Jesus shared them with His disciples who He hung out a lot with and taught them. We need to find people in our lives that we can be comfortable sharing with and even when we are uncomfortable, we can know they are the right people Lord placed in our lives to share.

When shared, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not something to be taken lightly. It saddens me when people tell me that they are a Christian and can live their life now anyway they want to because Christ has already saved them and they are going to Heaven. This is cheapening God's grace in our lives and crucifying Christ all over again. When we give our lives to Christ and acknowledge Him as our Savior, we need to also acknowledge Him as our Lord. He cannot be our Savior without being our Lord first.

Lord to me means Master and to whom our obedience is due. If I come to Jesus to be saved from my sins but don't have a desire to give up my sins, there is a problem in my life. When there is a desire to give up a sin but because of addictions, etc it is hard to do that instantly but I believe when we turn to the Lord each day asking God for forgiveness and choosing to change, we will be covered by Christ's blood and He will work in us and through us. We need to take the help provided though.

No, I cannot save myself for only Christ can save me through His grace. But once I am saved, I should not be living my life however I want to.  If I know something to be a sin and look past it because I am already saved and don't ask the Lord for help to change to overcome it, I have a issue with that in my own life.

We all should not cheapen grace by living our lives how we want to but live it in light of the cross.

When we mess up, we have Christ our Lord and Savior to forgive us and make us clean restoring our fellowship with Him but when we know we have sinned and messed up, we need to take responsibility for it and approach God's throne of grace.  I want to do that always and we all need to do that.

Following Christ becomes cheapened if we think we can do whatever we want to and do it deliberately without remorse when that goes against Scripture. When we know we have sinned, if we confess our sins to the Lord, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The focus is on Christ and not ourselves. It is hard to see myself as a follower of Christ when I am following my own heart's inclinations and desires. How am I different than the world when I say I am saved but live like the world does. If I live that way, I have a problem with myself.

This is not to say I am perfect for God knows the sins I commit and go to Him in repentance. When we as followers of Christ acknowledge our sin and go to Christ in repentance, we are still focusing on Christ and His grace has not been cheapened.

We will never save ourselves by the good works we do apart from Christ. Good works without Christ cannot save us. Good works with Christ in our lives shows the fruit of Christ actually living in us.

When we have Christ, the good works we do now are a result of the Holy Spirit working in us and through us. Now others see the fruit of Christ's work in our lives. This starts with surrender to Christ.

This also influences me on who I vote for. As a follower of Christ I cannot and will not vote for someone who is for Gay-Marriage, for abortion, etc because these things go against God's Word because I believe the Bible is the Word of God.  I hope every follower of Christ believes the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation is the Word of God to be adhered to and followed because all Scripture is divinely inspired by God and is useful for our lives.

May you share with others that Jesus alone saves by His precious cleansing blood shed on the cross so that we can be saved by His grace. Once saved by His grace, may we live a life that is fruitful and bears fruit only Christ can produce in our lives through the Holy Spirit.

When we do not see fruit in our lives may we ask ourselves how much have we truly surrendered to the Lordship of Christ or surrendered to our flesh's longings.

Salvation has a restriction everyday and the restriction is understanding 'Faith without deeds is dead!" (Book of James)

Salvation is by grace but once we have received God's grace, we cannot cheapen it and live our life however we want to. When we know we have messed up, we need to go to Christ to ask His forgiveness, take His blood to cover over us, and choose to repent of our sin asking Christ to transform us by the Holy Spirit.

"Salvation Has A Restriction Everyday!" (S.H.A.R.E)/"What do you S.H.A.R.E with others?"

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, please guide and lead us Oh Lord. Thank you for sharing openly with your disciples of what lied ahead in your life. You did that to be open and also to make a main point to the disciples. Help us Oh Lord to be open to share with others and not cheapen the Salvation you give us by the way we live our lives for ourselves instead of for you. Help us to take issues of poverty, Gay Marriage, Abortion, etc seriously as you care for these issues deeply. Thank you so much Jesus. Thank you saved us when we came to you and by your blood we have been redeemed. Our good works cannot save us if it were not for your grace. Thanks for your grace. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Jesus has been working in my life to transform and change me. Jesus will do that for you too no matter where you are. So, please come to Him as you are and allow Him to work in your life and transform you. Pray this prayer to the Lord and mean it in your heart to be saved.

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you so much that you came for hardened hearts to soften them and transform them. I know Lord you continue to do that in my life. Thank you Lord I did not choose you first but you chose me when you came into this world to die for those around you and those that would be born so their wickedness can be taken away when they turn to you. You have provided so many ways for people to come to know you as their Lord and Personal Savior. I thank you Lord for that but you will not force yourself into our lives unless we open the door of our heart. You stand at the door and knock and since you are knocking we thank you that you have chosen us. Now Oh Lord help us to choose you always knowing you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through you. Thank you for working in my life and giving me an opportunity to come to you. Help me to always remember the price you paid to set me free and give me new life. You paid it with your own blood for me so my heart does not have to stay hardened. Oh Lord Jesus, God of our Salvation please help us so we do not get hardened. We know when we take our mind of you, it will happen. But we thank you too that when we came to you, you saved us for eternity and you who began a good work in us will continue to do that . Thank you that we always have your blood covering over us. When we go our own way and sin we do that because we do not focus on you but on ourselves. Thank you when we turn to you, you forgive us. We give our life to you and ask you to be Lord and Savior of our lives. Thank you Jesus! Please come into my heart and make my heart your home. Live in me Jesus and I will live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. Thank you Jesus for being my Lord and Personal Savior. Thank you Jesus you have heard my prayer and answered me. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!
